We got married! Well, sorta...

Potential client reached out about having their dog attend and be in the wedding. Couldn't pass up such an opportunity. Of course we said, "yes!"

The couple was great and their dog was awesome. The day of the wedding was a little stressful and mainly my own fault. I entered the wrong address to the house and then panicked for a bit. The time I alloted was for getting to the house, dressing the dog for the wedding and heading out. I fumbling around for several minutes trying to find the correct address. Turns out I was 1 house away but across the street😅. Only 8 minutes wasted...

Arrive at the house, have a camera rolling to make a video collage of sorts. I'm always a little on edge when I meet a dog for the first time, in their environment without the owner. I let the dog out of its crate annnnd he runs out of the crate with a stressed bark and begins running around the house. Another wrench in the cogs. Luckily, it didnt take too long to win him over.

We got to the wedding with plenty of time. I had another moment of panic, thinking maybe im at the wrong venue as it was quiet. I reassured myself by asking one of the helpers if there was a wedding today. They said, "Yes." Phew. Shortly after some of the wedding guests and family members called me into the venue. Time to rest easy.

The wedding was beautiful. The bride and groom were amazing and got the wish of having their beloved pet in the wedding. While not costing an arm and leg like some of these attendant services. Can't knock 'em, though. We were happy in helping fulfill the couples request and that's what was important.

For those wondering/inquiring. We now offer wedding attendant services at a rate of $100 per hour + travel. Details will filter to the website when time permits.

Owner has given permission to feature her dog. Dog’s name has been changed.

Meet Bonnie. This little cutie has been a joy to watch “grow.” While fully-grown. Timid at the beginning. Now this little girl patiently waits in her crate, tail wagging and ready to pounce!

Once that crate door opens, she comes out flyi…well, first she has to stretch and laydown. After the intermission. She will run over to me as I lay down. Bonnie will join me, crawling over me and wiggling on her back next to me.

She has a docile but playful demeanor. Chasing toys or jumping into me as I get her leash. She will stand on her hind legs when I tap the floor with my hands and then raise them. Re-iterating her love of play.

While outside, she loves to pick up and carry sticks, leaves and other objects from mother nature. Some days we’ll leave the property and reach new areas of the neighborhood. Sometimes, we will play with a ball or Bonnie will sit and observe nature. Other days we’re chasing squirrels (easy animal control - she’s on a leash).

I get to see this little girl Monday through Friday. Her visit is always circled on my calendar.

Where have we been?

It's been a wild ride, thus far! The Pet's Tale is in year 5 of existence (3 as an LLC). For nearly 3 years I have juggled 100+ clients by myself. Many 12-14 hour days, Sunday - Sunday filled my schedule each week.

I would never expect clients to know what i am going through or even care. I also would never burden them with my problems. I know i've lost some valued clients due to being over-worked. Mainly, from not responding in a timely manner to inquiries. It was nothing any existing client did. I was overwhelmed at times.

In more positive news. The Pet's Tale has now grown to a small team of walkers/sitters and serve well over 200 clients. Even with all this help, Sunday - Sunday is still my personal business model.

😞 It's ok. I love what i do. I adore and value all the walkers/sitters with the The Pet's Tale. I am extremely pleased with their efforts and the care, love and joy they provide to the pet's in their presence.

Moving Forward:

Starting on Sundays. I'm going to try my best to feature one of my clients each week. This cutey (pic) will be the feature for this week (on Sunday).

Its been awhile since my last post. Tonight is one of my first nights "off" in many weeks. Being an entrepreneur has its perks but sometimes growing the business requires all hands-on-deck...always. Lori Greiner from Shark Tank said it best, "as entrepreneurs we work 80 hours to avoid working 40."

I recently became a farm-hand for a few days. A client called upon me (once again) to take care of their ever-growing stable of cats, dogs, ducks and chicks! What will they acquire next?!?!?

This little guy is old, blind and I believe deaf. He wanders and gets stuck into corners and walls. Picture a Roomba getting stuck.

He has to be hand-fed. I feel so bad for him.

From Tree Frogs to a One-year anniversary...sorta

I had the pleasure of hosting some tree frogs for the last 10-days. Not quite a first for the reptile family but it was neat to watch mother-nature in-action.

I sent the family updates every other day. They were appreciative (especially his boys) of my updates and how i presented each update. Sometimes, there is no greater joy than from the joy received from others.

And now *drum roll* for the exciting news. I started The Pet's Tale in September of 2020. I put together flyers, brochures and very nice business cards. I did some light physical advertising and took to social media.

I got a few inquiries and some oddball jobs (poo removal) and the promise of future business but all leads fizzled...nothing i could live off of. As COVID hit, i didn't know how this was going to work. I stuck at it and started advertising again after the COVID restrictions were lifted. Shortly after, i received my first inquiry through my contact form. Happy days!

Each month, i would receive more inquiries and eventually the client base increased, exponentially. I wanted to expand my business to reach a wider audience. Someone was looking for help boarding their dog. I put a feeler out... That took off, too!

I finished up the year with over 60 walking/sitting clients and 19 different dogs boarded. Several boarding dogs have been repeat clients.

In 2021 i created The Pet's Tale, LLC and have not looked back. I hope to 3x my client base and add more staff by years end. That's the plan, at least.

I am excited to see where 2022 will take me. I don't post on here to brag or show off nor do i do it for the interaction or likes. I post in hopes that for the off-shoot chance someone, "reads between the lines," looks at the pictures and my wording and puts it together.

If you're new and reading this, why not give The Pet's Tale a shot!?! (;

To any of my existing customers who read this: Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart!

Some happenings the last few days.

One of my clients (picture 1) needs to get her dog on a weight plan and she asked if i could play with him during some visits. Well, like a young kid resting his foot on a basketball - Luke will not come in the house because he's always looking to play. She says that i created a monster! oops...

Got to visit this rag-tag crew (picture 2). Absolutely love each one of them. But, little Darby (far left) always takes my heart.

Precious (picture 3) and I enjoying the lovely weather today.

I fill the water up and there's Bo (picture 4), sitting, patiently, waiting for his treat.

I began taking care of this lil dude. He apparently, has issues with males and is a skiddish of-sorts. The first few visits he was afraid and would have his tail-tucked. After a week, he no longer tucks his tail. Unless, there is something new going on (cleaning snow off him) AND now he gives me a smell-over and attempted kisses.

He is still cautious, though. We will become friends. Maybe not best friends but friends, indeed.
