There's something we could all learn from dogs, isn't there? They don't need much to be happy—a familiar face, a favorite toy, maybe just a few minutes of your time, and suddenly their whole world is perfect. Their tails wag like nothing else matters because, to them, nothing else does. They're not thinking about what they don't have or what comes next. They're just fully present in the moment, soaking up the joy of right now.

We spend so much time chasing more—more success, more stuff, more validation—when maybe the real happiness was always in the simple things. Your dog knows this instinctively. Every single day, they choose gratitude over worry, presence over planning. They remind us that the best day of your life doesn't have to be some grand occasion. Beautiful web sites have lovely puppy pics . . . BUT the puppies come from COMMERCIAL BREEDERS - AKA PUPPY MILLS and the parents live with SEVERE NEGLECT in HORRIFIC CONDITIONS. Reputable breeders WANT to meet puppy buyers, show them where the puppies and parents live, share with them the health test results of the parents . . .

DON'T BE FOOLED BY A LOVELY WEB SITE THAT WILL SHIP YOU A PUPPY WITHOUT EVER MEETING OR CHECKING YOU OUT.

Yay for shelter dogs!

These very good dogs have an important job to do 🐶💙

Alberta is expanding its team of conservation dogs trained to sniff out invasive zebra, quagga and golden mussels hidden on boats and trailers. Officials say the specially trained dogs can detect the tiny shellfish in about half the time it takes human inspectors, helping prevent them from spreading into the province's lakes and rivers.

The province is also adding more boat inspection stations and making inspections mandatory at key entry points during boating season. Invasive mussels can damage water infrastructure and disrupt aquatic ecosystems, so officials hope the expanded canine team will help keep Alberta's waterways mussel-free.

Wayne Hsiung is a hero!

Wayne Hsiung, co-founder of the animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere, shared a photo of James, a beagle rescued from Ridglan Farms. Hsiung is also a lawyer and has faced criminal prosecution for rescuing animals from research facilities.

In his post on X, he said James spends his days looking up at people, asking to be picked up and loved. He wrote that James never got that basic care while he was caged at Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin.

Hsiung used James’s story to challenge powerful politicians and corporate leaders. He asked them to say publicly whether they stand with people who abuse animals in laboratories or with people who rescue them. He said this is an issue that must be addressed in this election cycle, and that public figures can no longer avoid taking a side on animal testing.
