This Cane Corso required improved handling, clearer communication, well-defined boundaries, and a bit of an attitude adjustment. 😅 This large and powerful dog, at only a year old, had begun displaying concerning behaviors—reacting aggressively toward people and other dogs, and even redirecting on his owners when overstimulated. Fortunately, his dedicated people took swift action at the first signs of trouble. He’s still young, and now has a bright future ahead—equipped with reliable on- and off-leash manners, stronger impulse control, bite inhibition, and the freedom to safely join in on all of life’s adventures. ❤️☺️💕

Loyal Hound Client Spotlight 🌟 —->

Meet “Mila” , a gorgeous herder who’s reactivity & genetic instability and anxiety is triggering fights with the other dog in the home.

K9 Training / Behavior Tip:

Many anxious guardian and working breeds aren’t being dramatic or stubborn; they are responding to deep genetic patterns that keep their nervous system on high alert. When a dog is wired for vigilance or territorial responsibility, daily life can feel overwhelming long before any obvious behavior appears. Shepherds, Malinois mixes, Heelers, and livestock guardian dogs often express this through pacing, scanning, barking, or reactive outbursts that seem to come out of nowhere. These reactions aren’t personal; they are the body’s attempt to create safety in a world that feels unpredictable. At Loyal Hound Inc, we help unwind that chronic tension through clarity, structure, and calm, steady leadership that allows the dog to settle. When a dog understands exactly what its role is, the uncertainty that fuels aggression begins to release. We teach neutrality, impulse control, and a grounded state of mind so the dog can move through the world with more confidence and less reactivity. Our work is balanced, fair, and deeply respectful of the dog’s emotional experience, creating real, long-term change. If you are in Denver and living with a reactive or aggressive dog, our programs help rebuild stability, trust, and a regulated nervous system for both dog and owner. With the right guidance, your dog can shift from overwhelm to calm, and we will walk that path with you.

K9 Training / Behavior Tip:

Owning a livestock guardian breed like a Great Pyrenees is a serious responsibility and not a cute Instagram aesthetic. These dogs were bred for independent decision making, territorial defense, and absolute willingness to confront a threat. If you bring that level of genetic purpose into a suburban neighborhood without structure, rules, and accountability, you risk creating an unsafe environment for the dog and the people around you. A Great Pyrenees will guard whatever it believes is its job to guard, even if you never assigned that job. This means intense barking, boundary testing, and a real potential for aggression without proper guidance. Training a guardian breed is not a feel good project. It is leadership, consistency, and clear follow through. These dogs thrive when their handler is calm, confident, and deeply respectful of the instincts they carry.

At Loyal Hound Inc., we take purpose-bred dogs and give them the structure they need to become stable, safe, and reliable in the modern world. If you are ready to lead a guardian breed we will show you how to do it right!

Meet “Loki”

(Yeah, he also bites! 😅😝🦈)

K9 Training / Behavior Tip:

At Loyal Hound, we see every week that coddling a dog can create serious behavioral problems, sometimes even more than abuse, neglect, or even harsh handling that may have occurred in their past. I know- not what you’d think to be true! When a dog is babied, protected from natural consequences, and allowed to lead the home, insecurity begins to take root. That insecurity is what often grows into resource guarding, growling, reactivity, and even biting. Dogs need calm leadership, structure, and routine so they can feel safe. Many Denver dog training cases we work with come from homes filled with love but very few boundaries, and the dog ends up overwhelmed by the pressure to control everything.

When affection replaces guidance, the dog starts to believe it must manage the environment on its own. That responsibility creates stress and confusion, which eventually turn into dangerous behavior. True transformation happens when owners provide clarity, rules, and consistent direction. Once the dog understands that the human is leading, the dog can finally relax and stop making impulsive decisions. At Loyal Hound, we teach families how to create calm, confident structure so their dogs can let go of stress and become balanced, safe companions.

K9 Training / Behavior Tip:

Setting younger dogs up for success!

At Loyal Hound, we believe you set the tone for your puppy’s entire life from the moment they walk into your home. Puppies do not grow out of bad behavior. They grow into whatever structure you give them. Clear rules, crate training, calm household routines, and consistent guidance are what prevent future issues like reactivity, aggression, and anxiety. In Denver, where dogs are exposed to busy parks, patios, trails, and social environments, early training is not optional. It is the foundation for a stable and confident adult dog.

Setting puppies up to succeed means teaching patience, impulse control, and respect for space long before problems start. It means rewarding calm instead of excitement and creating a predictable world where the puppy understands how to win. Leadership does not overwhelm a puppy. It frees them from confusion and teaches them how to settle, follow, and thrive. At Loyal Hound, we focus on practical skills and real world structure because puppies who learn boundaries early become the dogs everyone wants to live with. When you nail the fundamentals from the beginning, you do not fix problems later. You prevent them entirely.

This philosophy has helped my brand, helped me to be a better friend, partner, leader to my dog/horse, business owner, model, artist, etc.

You could fail. And you will. We all will, at times.

But as that poet said so wisely - what if you fly?

I turned 39 today. Some truths I’ve learned so far that changed the quality and trajectory of my life, and may help you do the same for yours and the people you share it with:

* After roughly the age of 30, there is little correlation between age and emotional maturity
* If you make everything your fault instead of adopting a victim mentality, you’ll realize how much power and control you actually have.
* Literally no one is going to come save me or fix my life except me
* Leave people exactly where they get weird at- if you leave a conversation that you entered with the good intention of resolution, compromise, and understanding, and leave more confused, don’t ruminate wondering why. If someone treats you badly or shows up inconsistently, don’t try to play blues clues. Pull back your energy and move on. Believe what you experienced, and see it for what it is: disregard & disrespect.
* Figure out why you chase people who don’t feel the same way. And start matching peoples’ energy.
* Actions >> words every single day.
* Family sometimes has nothing to do with blood.
* Become what you are seeking to attract
* Don’t wait for others to travel & see new places- book the hotel. Buy the plane ticket. Do it alone. Make the memories and tell me about the incredible people you meet along the way.
