If you are used to seeing your dog or others in an heightened state of mind, you may think “but they’re sad” when we start to implement place time. However, what is happening seems magical 🪄
Your dog is learning to cycle down, be calm, chill out, relax. Whatever you choose to call it, your dog is learning to have a calm and healthy mindset. Doggy meditation 🧘
Too often, people will put human emotions onto a dog without realizing it. Some are used to seeing their dogs “happy” (stimulated, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed), and are trying to compartmentalize what they’re going through. The journey to a calm mindset is not always a pretty picturesque experience, rather it can be unsettling and look more like a detox.
Of course we love exercise and play time with our dogs, it is imperative to your dog’s health, but a constant life of arousal is overwhelming. Learning to be bored and just exist is one of the most important skills we can teach them!
