We are conducting this in-home research study for the manufacturer of Oral Strips for Dogs, which has been manufacturing oral strips for human use since 2017. Oral Strips for Dogs are an orally administrable composition made of a film forming agent that will stick to a dog’s mucous surfaces (tongue, gums and inner cheek). They are used to effectively deliver a micronized over-the-counter (OTC) vitamin or therapeutic medicine.

Oral Strips contain only naturally occurring, organic and sustainable ingredients. Active ingredients such as vitamins or supplements are embedded directly in the strip. These all-natural ingredients meet the highest purity standards and even meet all U.S. and Canada requirements for human consumption!

By placing the strip under the tongue, inside the cheek, or directly on the tongue and allowing it to dissolve for a few seconds, the active therapeutic or medicinal molecule is released from the strip and rapidly delivered across the tissue into the blood stream.

Our in-home research study includes 2 formulations ( a. fresh breath and b. calming) and 3 flavors (a. mint, b. chicken, and c. beef). Study participants will receive a variety of formulations and flavorings.

The active ingredient in the fresh breath formulation is spearmint. The active ingredients in the calming formulation are Tryptophan, L-Theanine, Melatonin and chamomile.

Already in use on a large scale with human recipients, Oral Strips represent a more convenient, faster and more reliable way to get supplements and vitamins into a patient’s bloodstream than pills, liquids, powders and any other delivery mechanisms whose ingredients must first pass through the GI tract.
In fact, delivering over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, therapeutics and vitamins via a strip placed on, under or near the tongue has been shown to deliver active ingredients as fast as an IV, or injection.
We also know that similar advantages can be achieved for pets. We are conducting an in-home research study to learn how easy it is for dog owners to administer the oral strips and how dogs react to them vs. pills.

You are being invited to take part in a standard usability test of a product already in use with human patients as it is readied for broader marketing with companion pets and horses. Many dog owners are already using Oral Strips to benefit their dogs' health, with no problematic side-effects ever recorded. Scientific Pet Health is simply looking for 100 dog-owning families to try Oral Strips for Dogs for the first time and tell us about their experience.

This effort is focused solely on collecting videos documenting Oral Strips for Dogs being administered by first-time users.
