Yes, his name is Dasa Baby Dog… because he is a baby dog. A sweet, silly, wiggly, lovable baby dog! This guy is the full package: dog-friendly, people-loving, and 100% ready to be the heart of your home. Can you believe he's been at the shelter since March?!?

Dasa is the kind of pup who fits in anywhere, whether you're a couch potato, a trailblazer, or somewhere in between. He’s always down for a game of fetch (his favorite sport), and the more tennis balls you throw, the happier he gets. His signature move? Holding one ball in his mouth while waiting for you to throw another. It’s a never-ending, adorable cycle of joy.

He’s a strong boy on leash, so a harness is your best bet for walks. That said, he’s made it pretty clear that he prefers zooming around the yard like a happy little tornado over structured strolls. But if you’re up for a jog, he’ll happily run alongside you like the loyal sidekick he is.
Dasa Baby also loves car rides and is always happy to hop in for an adventure. He's currently working on his doggie manners and making great progress every day. Because of this, he would do best with a seasoned owner. He needs consistency and love to continue his progress. If you're looking for a sweet, social companion with a playful spirit and lots of love to give, he may be your perfect match.

Meet Babsie! ❤️ While she's currently thriving in a foster home, she's still looking for her forever family. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will greet you with nonstop tail wags, stay close by your side, and melt your heart with the sweetest puppy eyes, Babsie is your girl. At 8 years old, she's the perfect blend of calm and playful. She enjoys relaxing near her people but still has fun bursts of energy, especially if you'll join in!

Babsie is fully potty trained, crates beautifully, loves car rides, and gets along great with her foster dog siblings. She's wonderful with people of all ages and doesn't mind being hugged, kissed, or loved on. She rarely barks—unless she can't get to where she wants to be...right beside her family.

She was also recently introduced to a cat in a home environment and responded with curiosity and plenty of tail wags, showing no signs of aggression or prey drive. As with any new pet, slow and supervised introductions are always recommended.

Meet handsome little Jasper! 🐱

Jasper is an 8-month-old tabby who is as sweet as he is playful. He loves other animals and children, has been neutered, is up to date on vaccinations, and is litter box trained.

His perfect home would include another playful cat since he's still a kitten with lots of energy. While he isn't much of a lap cat, he loves being close to his people and is especially cuddly when it's time for a nap. He can be a little shy at first, but once he's comfortable, he enjoys playing with his family, being carried around, and even gently holding your hand in his mouth or nibbling your toes! He also loves carrying his toys around and stalking bugs.

Jasper has been an indoor/outdoor cat, but was always supervised outside. He needs to be rehomed through no fault of his own due to changes in his family's home environment caused by illness.

Meet the handsome Mr. Hubert. This sweet 2-year-old Domestic Shorthair has been at the shelter since 5/4/2026.

Hubert is fully litter box trained and gets along well with other cats, making him a great fit for a multi-cat household. He is affectionate and enjoys quiet companionship, often seeking out cozy spots to relax.

Due to recent behavioral changes, possibly caused by the stress of shelter life, Hubert would thrive in a calm, loving foster home where he can decompress and regain his confidence. We are urgently seeking a foster placement to help Hubert return to his gentle, loving self. ❤️

Have you ever seen a more perfect pair? These two beautiful sister pups came into the City of Denton Animal Shelter together as strays. They've clearly been through a lot, but through it all, they've leaned on each other for comfort and support.

While Sally and Suzie can absolutely be adopted separately, they share a genuinely sweet bond that is sure to melt your heart. They're also available for fostering, either together or individually, if you're looking to make a difference in a shelter dog's life.

Volunteer Perspective: A Doggy Day Out w/ Bevo
My husband and I had the pleasure of taking Bevo out for the day, and he is a total joy! He loves everyone he meets, and he was especially a big hit with my teenagers. He has the best silly energy, LOVES squeaky toys. One of my absolute favorite things about him is his little nub-tail butt wiggles whenever he is happy to see you. He takes corrections very well, is incredibly eager to please, and once playtime is over, he is all about the snuggles.

Bevo was a perfect gentleman during our stop at 151 Coffee and had zero accidents in our house. While he would love to be the "only king" of your castle to soak up all the attention, he is a total rockstar on the trail. He doesn’t mind other pups passing by on walks and could even handle an occasional, laid-back trail buddy.

Bevo is a volunteer & staff favorite and we can’t understand why this sweet boy is still here. He has a precious, fun personality and he always makes us smile. He has been waiting far too long. Come meet this sweet, silly boy—your heart will thank you!

‼️Bevo: The Dog Who Deserves His Chance‼️

Today, I want to talk about Bevo.💔 Right now, Bevo is the longest resident at the City of Denton Animal Shelter. He has been waiting for a forever home since March 3rd, when he arrived as a stray. But Bevo's story goes much deeper than simply being the longest resident.💔

Recently, we found out that this isn't Bevo's first time in a shelter. Back in 2023, he arrived at the Highland Village Shelter as a stray puppy, only about six months old. At the time, his name was Banana. After three months, he was transferred to another shelter and eventually adopted. We all hoped he had found his happy ending. Sadly, that wasn't the case. Years later, he was found as a stray again here in Denton.😭

It's heartbreaking to think about how much of his life has been spent in shelters. A dog who is only about four years old should be spending his days with a family, sleeping on a soft bed, going on walks, chasing toys, and knowing what it's like to be truly loved. Instead, he's spent far too much of his life waiting.💔

Over the years, I've interacted with hundreds of dogs of all breeds, sizes, energy levels, and personalities, and I honestly cannot understand why Bevo continues to be overlooked. Every time I walk into the shelter and see him looking out his kennel window, it's impossible not to feel his hope. His eyes seem to say, "Please pick me."‼️ If I had room for one more dog, I wouldn't think twice. Bevo would already be home.

He's not just a favorite of mine, he's a favorite among volunteers and staff as well. We've taken him on multiple Doggy Day Outs to give him more exposure because we know his family is out there somewhere. We truly believe that when Bevo is adopted, it will be by the family that will love him forever.🙏🏼

Bevo weighs 54 pounds, making him the perfect size, not too big and not too small. He has medium-to-high energy and gets excited when it's time to leave his kennel, which is completely understandable after spending so many hours confined each day. He's potty-trained, knows how to sit and is very treat-motivated. 🐶

Once he gets out on the trail, he's incredible. He walks like a champion, ignores dogs passing by, loves meeting people, and does great with teenagers. He's the kind of dog who simply enjoys being with his person.🥹

What I admire most about Bevo is his spirit. After everything he's been through, he remains sweet, happy, and full of love. He hasn't given up on people, even though people have let him down. That says so much about the kind of dog he is.♥️

And here's a fun fact: just like Bevo, the University of Texas mascot, our Bevo has a strong presence and a gentle soul. Both are unforgettable, and both have a way of winning people over.🤠

So today, I'm asking for a favor. 🙏🏼 Please share Bevo's story. 🙏🏼 Talk about him. 🙏🏼Help us show the world what an amazing dog he is. 🙏🏼His forever family is out there somewhere, and after spending so much of his life waiting, he deserves the chance to finally go home.♥️

Meet Pineapple! 🍍 While she's currently enjoying life in a foster home, she's still looking for her forever family. Contact the shelter to schedule a meet-and-greet—her foster family can tell you everything about this wonderful girl!

Pineapple is the perfect mix of affectionate and independent. She loves curling up in your lap for cuddles but is just as happy entertaining herself by sunbathing, relaxing outside, or chewing on a favorite toy. She's fully crate trained, has no separation anxiety, and sleeps peacefully in her crate each night.

Her favorite game is fetch! 🎾 If there's a tennis ball nearby, she's one happy pup! With a medium energy level, Pineapple enjoys playtime and adventures just as much as relaxing with her favorite people.

Pineapple is still working on her leash manners and has a high prey drive, so she'll do best with an adopter who will continue her training. She can also be nervous around bikes, scooters, and skateboards, so a patient family willing to help build her confidence would be a great fit.
