OK folks, Puxatawny Phil saw his shadow. 6 more weeks of winter. But as we all know, it won't be long, we will all be lamenting the heat and wishing for cooler days. The good news is that because of the days getting longer, all the horses will be shedding. That means we can all look forward to noses and mouths filled with hair! Such fun.

In an effort to correct a wrong, I am making a public apology to Rachel Calabria, Linda Winter, Geoff Wise and the populace of Winter Oaks Stables. I posted what I though was a private post containing my opinion that has gone public and is upsetting to all. While I am searching for this post, in an effort to right the wrong, I apologize to Rachel and all concerned. when I locate the original post, I will post a retraction.

Brrrr. Cold again! But it looks like it will be warming up towards the weekend. Bundle up and come on out. It may be chilly, but the sun is shining and it's nice when you're out of the wind.

For all my Hondo fans out there; he's coming along great. Picked out a clinic in early March to attend with him. If he handles getting ready for that and working for 2 days, he should be able to go back into the show arena. Then Cowboy Dressage World look out! My little Monster will be back to take all your ribbons and saddles home with him!

Took a ba****ck information ride today on my 10 year old stallion. Just me and him with a bosal. Loved the way his back is working. Smooth but strong muscles in harmony under my rump. When I asked for a stop, I easily felt the lower back relax and allow the pelvis to tip under for a stop with the hind legs coming under. Then, as I turned my shoulders for a roll back, it was easy to feel the inside muscles contract and the outside ones to extend to allow good bending in the body. I started slow and worked up so we became very attuned to each other. What a pleasant way to spend time with a favorite horse.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

For those who don't know, or don't remember: Hondo had a severe laceration involving the left semitendenous muscle in Sept. of 2014. After 2 plus years off of all work, he was begun on a stretching and re-conditioning program in March of this year. Yesterday, I rode him for the first time in all that time. He is sound! My little monster has overcome the laceration of a significant muscle structure and is sound to ride. Now, I will embark on a carefully planned program of stretching and gymnasticizing from the saddle as well as the ground with the hope of bringing him back to full working and showing. Best Christmas present ever!

Ryan Hopkins' horse Beau has arrived in Texas! So happy to see the boy. Now, can't wait to get started with his in hand work.

Today the best horse in the group I own was Red. He got his feet done like a pro, ground tied for the whole time.

Yesterday's big star was Hondo. He is working so nice. I hope to have him in the show pen in 2018.
Don't forget, Hondo still has openings for the 2018 breeding season. If you are looking for working ranch breeding with ability, cow sense, and a gentle personality; Hondo is your guy. He fixes a too long back, improves movement and passes on his tractability and quiet demeanor.
