The simple answer is... Yep!

But there are many different types of reactivity in dogs. Maybe your dog resembles little Zeva here, or MAYBE your dog looks more like a bloodthirsty beast lunging for the kill 😬🤷‍♀️

Either way, it can be very frustrating and hard to understand- especially if your dog is generally very sweet. Two things are important to remember in these moments:

1. Reactivity does NOT equal aggression

2. You can ABSOLUTELY work through it

This goofy girl is about 5 months old and is a coonhound mix availablefor adoption through the Linda Mcnatt shelter in Denton,TX. She's sweet, sassy, cuddly, and a whole lotta fun PLUS she comes with FREE TRAINING FOR LIFE!

What does that mean exactly?
It means that if you choose to adopt her, I will help you integrate her into your life through private sessions(in-person or video) and I'll be your coach for all things dog to set you, her, and your household up for success now and for the rest of her life! 😎🥰

What's "work" for your dog?

Maybe it's the crate, maybe it's people coming over, maybe it's also the car- maybe it's a lot of different things 🤷‍♀️ We tend to expect our dogs to just be ok with things because they are normal and natural for us, but the experience is completely different for them.
Empathy is key here 🩷🩷🩷

It's important to choose neutral, calm dogs for your dog to spend time around, especially if they are reactive or nervous. The influence we have over our dogs can be strong, but they learn sooo much from each other- good and bad.

I talk a lot about baby steps with my clients and the fosters I help. DON'T SKIP STEPS, Y'ALL. It's extremely easy to leash a dog and immediately teach them not to trust you, so be consistent and most importantly- Take. Your. Time.

Enjoy the dog in front of you exactly as they are and work at their pace 🩷
