Re-posting the 5 simple tips I've learned as a professional dog walker, because they will change everything!

🐾 If you want enjoyable leash walks with your dog, read on! 🐾

🐶 1. Let them be a dog. Dogs sniff. Dogs p*e on things. Dogs roll in the grass. This is what makes walks fun and enjoyable to them!

🐶 2. Let their personality shine. Every dog is an individual, and makes a "good" walk for one dog might be completely different for another!

🐶 3. Find their pace and do your best to match it. Every dog's pace is different based on body type, energy level, and personality. You'll be less frustrated and more successful in the beginning by matching their pace.

🐶 4. Be patient. It's not a race. This can apply to your dog's sp*ed of learning and the walk itself.

🐶 5. Use a consistent leash length. Inconsistency confuses your dog. Ditch the retractable leash for a comfortable 4-5ft leash, and tie a knot in it so you'll hold at your same desired spot every time.

Following these tips will set you up for a more pleasurable walk with your dog right away, even before you begin leash training.

🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month 🐾

We all know that wellness refers to physical health and well being, but don't forget that it also includes your dog's mental wellness too!

There are several things you can do to improve your dog's mental wellness. Here is a list of our top Pet Mental Wellness Tips:

🐶 Positive Communication- The method in which you teach your dog is more important than what you teach. Train in a way that does not cause fear or suppression, but instead build engagement and confidence.

🐶 Problem Solving- Teaching a new trick or solving a new puzzle toy engages your dog's brain, and boosts their confidence when they figure it out. You can feed meals out of puzzle toys to provide a daily problem solving activity.

🐶 Sensory Enrichment- Sniffing new smells (let them sniff the "p*e mail", touching new surfaces (walk in the grass instead of the sidewalk), and seeing new sights (take a different route) are all ways to increase your dog's well being by enriching the senses.

🐶 Physical Exercise- Movement releases endorphins, which reduces stress and creates the feeling of happiness. Getting your dog out for a brisk walk or morning jog increases their (and your!) mental wellness as well as physical well being.
