Just for informational purposes. This is not the correct way to cape a deer for a shoulder mount. The legs should never be cut off at the body like this. You need to leave at least six inches of leg skin for proper fit on the forms. Please be careful when skinning you animal for a shoulder mount.

ATTENTION HUNTER!!!

I'd like to wish everyone a safe and successful season this year. However I'd like to address an all too common probkem that taxidermist see when we receive trophies in the shop. That is miscut or carelessly cut hides. A quality mount starts in the field with the hunter. If the hunter doesn't care for the hide properly then a taxidermist can't produce a quality mount. The most common issue falls in the brisket area, this is the area between the front shoulder at the bottom of the neck. There should be no cuts made to this area. Any cuts made anywhere on the front side of the shoulders will effect the quality of the finished piece. Please be careful and check out the diagram that I have attached for reference.
