FACILITIES:
We are very proud of our new kennels which were completed in Aug 2019. We have fourteen indoor/outdoor runs for your dog's comfort. And 26 indoor kennels that are heated and cooled. Each kennel is 4' X 5' inside and 4' X 6' outside. On cold winter nights, we turn the heat on for the dogs. During the HOT summer months, we run the air conditioner to make sure the dogs stay calm and comfortable during their stay away from home. Kennels are washed down twice a day. While washing down the kennels, the dogs are given a chance to air and play with other dogs in our 5000 square foot play yard twice a day. TRAINING SERVICES:
Our training program is based on one of the greatest training methods available in addition to over 45 years of combined training experience. We take these proven methods and apply them in our training program. Remember, all dogs are different and learn at a different pace. At the end of the day, they are still just dogs. The time lines listed below are averages based off of our experience over the years. PUPPY HEAD START PROGRAM: Is a great way to introduce your new puppy (2-5 months old) to the life of the hunting retriever. We only take a limited number of puppies at a time in this program due to the time in takes to properly socialize the pup. Whether we do it or you do it, socializing your new pup needs to be done and done right. Once completed, your dog will be ready to start formal obedience at five months of age. Cost $600/month

PRE SEASON TUNE UPS: Is a 1-2 month program designed to get your retriever back into shape and familiar with all the known commands before opening day. These slots fill up fast, so call early. Cost $700/month

ALL BREED OBEDIENCE PROGRAM: Is a 6 week program teaching your pup how to be the good all around citizen you hoped for. Our obedience training program is split into two stages.
1) On Lead Training: is a 3 week obedience training program allowing your dog to learn the desired commands under control while on lead. These commands include come (whistle & voice), sit (whistle & voice), down, heel, kennel & NO. Cost $750
2) Off Lead Training: is a 3 week program that enforces the known commands above with the aid of an electronic collar. Participants can only enter this training program once they have successfully completed our On Lead Training Program. You will likely want to purchase an electronic collar after your dog finishes. Not only will we sell one to you, we will show you how to correctly use it. Cost $750
Total OB (6 weeks) $1500

BASIC RETRIEVER TRAINING PROGRAM: Is a 3-4 month program teaching your pup the basics of retriever training. The program includes all obedience training mentioned above as well as force fetching (forcing hold command & fetch command). The basics of hand signals will also be laid during this time. Your dog will be introduced to guns, decoys, calls, boats, blinds and 4-wheelers during this stage of training. You can expect your dog to be obedient and able to perform simple doubles on both land and water. At the end of this program, your dog should be able to compete at the Started Level in UKC or the Junior Hunter Level in AKC hunt test. Cost $700/month

TRANSITION RETRIEVER TRAINING PROGRAM: Is a 3 month program advancing your retriever's skills. A lot of different drills will be used during this time to teach your dog the skills of running blind retrieves on both land and water. Your dog will be introduced to difficult marking scenarios during this time frame. You can expect your dog to quietly honor other dogs as they perform their retrieves. At the end of this program, your dog should be able to compete at the Seasoned Level in UKC or the Seasoned Hunter Level in AKC hunt test. Cost $700/month

FINISHED RETRIEVER TRAINING PROGRAM: A 3-4 month program that further advances your retriever's skills. At the end of this program, your dog will have the skills needed to be the retrieving machine you have always desired. You can expect the dog to do complex blind retrieves as well as multiple marks at extreme distances. At the end of this program, your dog should be able to compete at the Finished Level in UKC or the Master Hunter Level in AKC hunt test. Cost $700/month

We also offer hunt test handling for our clients. If you would like to see your dog perform competively against some of the best dogs out there, talk to us about our upcoming test schedule. In our opinion, this is a must if you ever intend on breeding your dog. It creates a paper trail for perspective buyers to compare to other breedings around. If two equal breedings are out there and one has titles on the parents and the other breeding does not, which one sells their pups the fastest? FAQ
Can I come see Fido while he is in training? Unexpected drop ins are not welcome due to the strict schedule we must keep. We encourage you to come see your dog work, especially towards the end of your dogs stay. We will take all the time needed to make sure you are comfortable working with your dog before we send them home with you. Remember, if you get home and can not remember what to do and when to do it, call us. Our promise to you is that we will always answer your questions regarding your dogs training with us. We will do this for the life of your friend. How far in advance do we need to schedule a visit? A simple phone call might solve the question. Some days we have more time available than others. Appointments will need to be mutually agreed upon. Please have respect for our families and do not call on Sundays or after 9:00 p.m. Is there a waiting list for your training programs? Most of the time, yes. We can hold your spot with a small non-refundable deposit and apply it to the first month of training. What is the best age to start them in training? In our opinion, 5 months of age is the optimum time to start formal obedience. How old is to old? We never say never. However, It generally takes longer with the older dogs. What do I need to provide during my dogs stay? Heart worm & Flea / Tick Preventative. Everything else is included in our price. If you would like, we can buy and administer all necessary medicines. My dog already knows how to ____________, can he skip some of the steps and start your finished training program? The training programs listed are generally followed in sequence. If you think your dog is ahead of the game and could skip one of the programs mentioned, all prior required tasks must be demonstrated to us and mutually agreed upon. Think of it this way, you can never fill up a glass of water if there are holes in the glass. The same goes for retriever training. You can't expect them to do hand signals if they will not sit and look at you. this is only one scenario, I can think of many more.

Black Walnuts are dropping right now and you shouldn’t let your dog play with them. If they ingest too much it can make them sick.

These two dogs have been fun to mess with!

They scored perfect scores in Use of Nose, Search, Water, Pointing, Tracking, Desire to Work & Cooperation. They scored a perfect 112 and earned a Prize 1 yesterday in Tennessee. They were the only two Pudelpointers there and I think we represented the breed nicely! Thanks Point North Gundogs and Packmaster Gun Dogs - Pudelpointers for producing top notch Gundogs!

Wouldn’t have been possible without the help from Eric Borkoski and Anthony Cavalli-Singer

It’s easy to train a dog when you’ve got a dog with this kind of desire.

This past weekend Cy and Mark earned a Max score of 112 Prize 1in their NAVHDA Natural Ability test.
Cy is the 9th pup out of our Syd (Flatlander’s Chicago Bandit) X Vaughn (Falling Feathers Bit Outside) litter, which produced
7 Prize 1’s and 2 Prize 2’s.
We couldn’t be more proud of Syd and Vaughn or more thankful to some great Puppy customers for their hard work and dedication to these pups.

- Lost DOG UPDATE -

He once was lost but now he’s found!!! Thank God for helping us out (prayers were answered) and allowing my wife Kelley Jacobs Smith who is not a dog person to all out pounce on Chuck as he ran by…Alabama linebackers would have taken notice of this take down!!! God cares about our needs and we were stressed about this, shameful to pray only when in need sometimes but He’s there in good and bad times too!

I am so proud to be from Demopolis where EVERYONE knows us and pitches in when it hits the fan. This was all hands on deck and from Steve Cox to LB Burbage to our great staff and wives at BBR and CJ Davis !!! The great City of Demopolis was riding and texting all over!!! Thank you everyone!!
