This sweet soul is Elowyn.

When we picked her up (an 8hr roundtrip), she was nothing more than skin stretched over bones. She needed a name that spoke of strength, hope, and resilience—because she had none left of her own.

Elowyn is believed to be a Great Dane mix, only 5–6 months old. At a 2/9 body condition score, she is dangerously emaciated. Every rib, every vertebra, every bone is visible beneath her fragile skin. No puppy should ever look like this.
She had never stepped foot inside a home before coming here.

She was so terrified that she wouldn't—or perhaps couldn't—walk. When faced with fear, she didn't run. She didn't fight. She simply froze.

For days, she barely moved.
Then something incredible happened.
With full meals, gentle hands, soft words, and unconditional compassion, the frightened puppy hidden beneath the fear began to emerge. She cautiously sought affection. Then she climbed into my lap, desperate to be held—as if she had been waiting her entire life to know what love felt like.

Even now, eating is still a struggle. More often than not, she'd rather press herself against someone who makes her feel safe than fill her empty stomach.

No puppy should have to choose between love and food.

The hardest part is knowing she wasn't the only one. We found out after arriving home with this sweet girl that Elowyn has a sibling whose people did not show up for her; Who now desperately needs our help.

Elowyn and her sibling are not rare cases. We get requests like this ALL. THE. TIME. Elowyn is one of thousands. Thousands of dogs and puppies needing someone to stand up and give them a chance because they didn't ask to be here.

If you're able to help, your donation will go directly toward Elowyn's veterinary care, rehabilitation, and—if possible—the rescue of her sibling, which requires another 8-hour round trip.

There are days when rescue work feels absolutely incredible... and there are days when it feels overwhelming.

Right now, we're facing one of those overwhelming moments.

Every animal that comes through our doors depends on us to keep our promise. Whether they arrive scared, sick, injured, neglected, or simply unwanted, we tell them they're safe now. We tell them we'll do everything we can to give them the future they deserve.

But love alone doesn't pay veterinary bills.

We have several upcoming veterinary appointments that simply can't be put off. Exams, surgeries, vaccinations, bloodwork, medications, and routine care are all adding up faster than we can keep up. Every dollar we spend means another animal gets the chance to heal, find a family, and leave their painful past behind.

We are beyond thankful for the incredible support you've shown us. Every package that has arrived, every donation, and every share has made a real difference.

Because of you, our rescue babies will have full bellies, clean bedding, fresh litter, and the medications they need to stay healthy and parasite-free. Knowing they are safe, comfortable, and cared for means everything to us.

We also have some wonderful news! We found a veterinary partner who is able to perform little Jasper's much-needed hernia repair, along with 2 neuters, including all required bloodwork, for just $570. That is an incredible blessing and will save the rescue hundreds of dollars.

Right now, we're only $455 away from being able to schedule their appointment.

These sweet pups have already overcome so much. They came to us covered in fleas, suffering from heavy parasite infestations, and in desperate need of care. They've fought their way back to health, and this surgery is the final step before they can begin the next chapter of their lives in loving forever homes.

Running a rescue is one of the most rewarding things we've ever done, but it's also one of the hardest. Every day we make decisions about how to stretch every dollar, every bag of food, every scoop of litter, and every hour in the day just a little bit further.

Today, we're asking for help.

We're getting dangerously low on cat litter, puppy food, and laundry detergent. They aren't exciting donations, but they're the things we use every single day. We go through mountains of laundry caring for sick puppies, frightened cats, and animals that have never known what it feels like to be safe.

On top of that, we have several veterinary appointments coming up that simply can't wait. Every animal that comes through our doors deserves the chance to heal, and we refuse to let finances be the reason they don't get the care they need.

I know times are hard for so many people. That's why I'm not asking anyone to give more than they're comfortable with.

But I do want to put something into perspective.

If every person who follows Turning Tails Inc gave just $1, these upcoming vet bills would be covered.

Just one dollar.

It's easy to think that such a small amount won't make a difference, but when hundreds of compassionate people come together, those little acts of kindness become life-changing. Some of you may remember the little puppies we welcomed into Turning Tails Inc. a short while ago.

When Tux and Colter arrived, they were in heartbreaking condition. They were absolutely covered in fleas—so severely that they had become anemic. They were suffering from awful intestinal worms, were filthy, and had clearly been neglected. They should have been enjoying puppyhood, not fighting just to survive.

They're almost unrecognizable today. They've received the veterinary care they needed, they're parasite-free, their coats are clean and shiny, and they're finally healthy enough to enjoy being puppies.

We're so excited to share that sweet little black pup, Tux, already has a foster-to-adopt family!

Now it's Colter's turn.

During his exams, our veterinarian discovered that Colter has an umbilical hernia that needs corrective surgery before he's ready to find his forever family. The total cost of his surgery is $789.

We've come so far together, and we don't want this one final hurdle to stand between Colter and the loving home he deserves.
