Everyone meet Retro he is mini schnauzer that was surrendered to us recently. When he went to get neutered yesterday he ended up needing 12 teeth extracted and has a horrible ear infection his bill went from $200 to $600 and we could really use some help to be able to catch up as this was unexpected expense! Anything helps if you cant help please share.

It’s wish list wednesday!

Kitten season is here! We took in 4 little eye gunky fluff balls monday that were going to be euthanized by the end of the day if rescue didn’t take. We currently have 6 kittens with 4 more incoming, and 5 adults. As well as 4 foster dogs/pups. We could use some help with food and supplies!

Update: First thank you to everyone whose donated towards his care we received around $500 towards his bill. He is on the road to recovery now the bill did end up being closer to $1400.

On thursday we picked up Rocket, a Corgi who has been through a lot neglect wise. We knew he had urinary issues, he had been left in a cage in his own f***s and urine. His “owners” dumped him at the shelter. He started peeing blood shortly after we brought him home/into our care thursday.
Turns out he has a large stone in his bladder and has to have it surgically removed. We could use some help towards his care.

BEFORE YOU GET OFFENDED when someone suggests you neuter your cat please read this.

1. When a cat becomes pregnant, it is not through choice. There is no romantic liaison.... it literally is the equivalent of sexual assault.
The male cat's p***s is barbed and causes excruciating pain for the female.

2. Every rescue is dependent on volunteers. Volunteers who lose family time, money, sleep, weekends and evenings caring for and fundraising to ensure unwanted cats get the correct care.

3.Animals have no voice.. So when somebody speaks on their behalf, stop getting upset.

4.Uneutered Male cats will wander in search of females. They will fight ferociously and cause terrible injury to other males in the process causing sepsis. And dreadful life threatening diseases.

5. Every litter of kittens born in your home and sold adds to the problem by stopping a rescue cat being adopted.

6. Rescues are full to capacity with cats which have been bought on a whim of Facebook and surrendered or abandoned due to boredom or inability to afford vet bills, Neuter, Vaccines, Food, Flea and worm treatment

7. Each rescue has a waiting list. They spend literally thousands of dollars a year on Vet Treatment. Food, Litter. Flea and Worm Treatment, Electricity, Shelter Rent, Fuel... These are just the basics.

8. Behind the scenes volunteers nurse kittens every 2-4 hours, feed ferals everyday, clean litter boxes and field calls from people several times a day. All this while fundraising constantly. Worry about cats who have been surrendered and are traumatised by being torn from its surroundings and carry the guilt of the decisions they have to make.

9. Rescues have volunteers who drive for miles. Trapping stray and dumped cats, picking up unwanted cats and spending hours on the phone trying to find spaces and homes for unwanted pets.

10. Volunteers spend their free time and energy picking up the pieces from people who allow cats to have kittens and refuse to neuter.

Please don’t be offended when someone asks are you getting your cat neutered - rescues see the consequences of these actions every day 365 days a year and are simply giving a voice to the vulnerable creatures so casually given away or sold for a dollar.

“FREE” kittens? If they can’t afford to adopt a cat/kitten, what makes you think they can afford to care for it? Far too many wind up in the streets, whether when they come home with a kitten and the adult says “No, get rid of it!”, or the cat starts spraying, or she gets pregnant, or they can no longer afford to buy food or litter . . . So many reasons.

“Oh, but he’s/she’s an indoor cat, I don’t need to neuter him/her.” Let me just say here, when Mother Nature comes calling, cats WILL find a way out.

Yes accidents happen, pregnancy happens, depending on your beliefs, she can be spayed during pregnancy. Or if you don’t believe in spaying while pregnant and decide to let her go full term, surrender the kittens to a rescue. This will give them a better chance at a good life. Then, PLEASE neuter your cat!

I’m not talking about one or two litters being given away, I’m talking thousands upon thousands of litters. Just in my area I see new listings of litters being given away daily.

STOP THE VICIOUS CIRCLE!

My dream is for all us TNR advocates to no longer be needed.
