I’m looking for recommendations on where I can donate some unopened prescription dog food locally. One of our senior dogs recently passed, and we no longer need the food. Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, who he came from, doesn’t currently have any other dogs on these diets and suggested donating to a shelter or someone local who could use them.

I have:
🦴 Royal Canin Renal Support (wet food)
🦴 Hill’s Prescription Diet z/d (wet food)

All cans are unopened and stored properly. I’d really love for them to help another pup in need rather than sit unused.

If you know of any local shelters, rescues, or pet families who might benefit, I’d be grateful for any recommendations!

Today we said goodbye to our sweet forever foster, Baby. 💔😭

Baby came into our lives in October 2024 through Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary. He was 17 years old when we welcomed him into our home, and he turned 18 on Christmas Eve. From the start, we knew our time with him would be precious — and it truly was.

He lived an amazing life, full of love, comfort, and quiet moments that we will carry in our hearts forever. Though he was only with us for a short while, he became part of our family in every way. We are so incredibly grateful to have been part of his journey and to give him the peace and care he deserved in his final months.

Not long after we said goodbye, a heron appeared by the creek in our backyard — standing still, peaceful, and calm. It hasn’t left. I can’t help but feel it was a sign from Baby, letting us know he’s okay… that his spirit is still close.

We know Lizzy and Lauren are waiting to greet him at the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈 Until we meet again, Baby — thank you for the joy, the love, and the honor of being yours. You were so deeply, truly loved.

It’s one of those weeks where just stepping outside feels like walking into an oven 🔥☀️

With this heat wave rolling through and temps hitting 100 degrees, it’s super important to keep our pups safe. They don’t sweat like we do, and overheating can happen fast.

A few simple reminders:
💧 Keep them hydrated
🌳 Stick to shaded areas
🐾 Skip the hot pavement
🚗 And never leave them in the car — not even for a minute

This weather is no joke, so let’s take it easy out there. Your dog would rather chill inside with you than risk the heat — promise. 🐶❤️

I had the privilege of attending the Memorial Garden Remembrance Ceremony and the Nancy S. Kelly Memorial Play Yard Dedication at Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary today. 💕🐾

It was such a meaningful event filled with love, remembrance, and the joy that dogs bring into our lives. The new play yard is a beautiful tribute to the pups who are no longer with us but are forever in our hearts. 🌈🐶

We also took a moment to honor some very special souls of our own who have crossed the rainbow bridge — Lizzy, Lauren, Miss Daisy, and Mr. Fritz. You are missed every single day, and your paw prints remain on our hearts forever. ❤️🐾

Marty’s Place is a true example of what it means to give dogs a second chance at love, comfort, and family—especially in their golden years. Feeling so grateful to be part of a community that values and honors these incredible companions. 💛

As we gather today for barbecues, laughter, and time with loved ones, let us also take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We especially remember Sgt. Chuck, a dear friend and Marine veteran. Although Chuck didn’t pass in service, his dedication, courage, and the sacrifices he made remind us all of the true meaning of this day — honoring those who fought to protect our country and those who continue to carry that legacy.

From all of us here, thank you to everyone who has served and to those who gave everything so we could enjoy days like today. ❤️🇺🇸
