As we get closer to the Labor Day holiday, here is a look at our schedule from Monday September 1st - September 8th!

Our office is closed for Labor Day on September 1st! We will be open for our regularly scheduled hours Tuesday through Friday, 7:30AM-5:00PM (appointments from 8:00AM-4:15PM).

🐎 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐬? 🐎

"Colic" is a broad term meaning abdominal pain in horses. While some cases are mild, it can be deadly if not treated with care. In fact, colic is the most common cause of death in horses between the ages of 1-20.

It is paramount that you have a valid, annual, Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR) with a veterinarian who is able to come out to you in case of an emergency. It is also extremely important that you have plan on what to do if your horse requires hospitalization or surgery at an emergency clinic.

The last photo on this post has a few Emergency Equine Hospitals that typically will intake emergency colics. We are unable to hospitalize equids or perform colic surgery, so having a plan on how to trailer your horse could be the difference between a good prognosis versus a poor one.

We would like to welcome Dr. Galasso to the community as our newest veterinarian here at Delhi Animal Hospital!

Dr. Julia Galasso, DVM, is a graduate of Auburn University. She is looking forward to get to know our clients both in the office and out on the road!
