Dixie enjoying a break during her long morning solo hike. We are using her manners, and quiet when exiting the vehicle, as the keys to her going on the trails.

Going out on the trails is VERY exciting for Dixie, and as such she loves to be very VERY vocal and LOUD about her anticipation and excitement, so in order to be the reward of going on these fun adventures she has to practice impulse control

Quieting and sitting in the crate, in the car, before the crate opens. Sitting quietly for the crate door to open and for her to be leashed. Quietly waiting in a sit while the door is open and waiting to be released. Exiting the vehicle quietly and sitting for us to close the crate and car doors. At any point she gets loud or stands, we start over from the beginning.

This makes getting out a long process, she has a lot to say, but having her practice this patience and being clear that ONLY quiet gains her access to all the fun things will help her over all mindset and impulse control over time.

Dixie's been working hard on her leash manners and reactivity. After a quick tune up at the beginning of our walk, Dixie did great walking politely beside another pup working on his reactivity, Maui.

Wednesday got her nails clipped today, and as a reward for all her hard work we let her decompress by making a new friend on the trails!

She had an absolute blast with Uma, getting some much needed play and adventure time.
