Meet Olive Oil, she was dropped off at our doorstep by a stranger a few weeks ago and Dr. Niedermiller and the staff here at MVS have taken her in to care for her. When she arrived, her left leg had been badly damaged by (we assume) a bicycle and she was very skinny. After various tests and x-rays it was determined that the leg had tissue damage beyond repair and needed to be removed. Dr. Niedermiller performed the surgery successfully and Olive Oil has since been under constant care by all of the staff at MVS.

She loves to eat, and has been putting on a healthy amount of weight since coming into the care of our clinic. She’s also very friendly, loves scratches and has plenty of toys to play with. Her remaining hind leg has been getting stronger every day, and she’s learning to manage on just the three!

Feel free to call us to schedule an appointment for your pet and come say hello to our newest, littlest worker!

November Pet Of The Month: Frank

"A few years ago, I rescued Frank from a shelter. I had previously owned a few seventy-pound dogs, so I was happy to get Frank, who was much smaller. He is so much easier, but his favorite game is tearing up paper bags! If I put toys in the paper bags, he makes a game of getting them out.

As you can see from the pictures, Frank likes to dress up. It’s a good thing Frank is a male, because if he was female his closet would be too full of clothes! As a bonus, Frank gets along well with my two cats, Mister Whiskers and Trixie. They are great friends! We are all happy to have Frank as part of our family."

Pet of the Month of April/May
I rescued Alexandra from K-9 Pet Rescue in Okeechobee Florida. I still remember the day my
Dad and I drove 3 hours to pick her up. From the moment we met, her amazing eyes captured me.

Alexandra is probably one of the most athletic dogs. At dog camp she can easily jump over a 6 foot fence. She is also one of the fastest dogs at the beach and dog park. It is great watching her grow and get more confident every day. I am thankful that this special dog has brought so much love into my life.

Pet of the month of December

Tom & Jerry

My story begins last Memorial day when my co-worker Ella texted me a picture of a litter of kittens that needed fostering. Since I have only had dogs in my life, I reluctantly agreed. Alas, instead of taking only one of the kitties, I took two of them. The brothers were only 2 pounds and tinier than I can imagine kittens could be. Thanks to all the care they received from me and everyone at the clinic they thrived. However, when it was time to give them back I couldn't. They were cute, smart and now as stories go so much fun was added to my life. Now, one and a half years later, they are happy, healthy, loving life and each other. Thanks to MVS and Dr. Debbie.

Pet of the Month of November
"Charlie"

Hi, my name is Charlie, I am Yorkshire Terrier. My Mom is a first responder for FPL and was deployed to Louisiana for Hurricane “Zeta”. She said goodbye in the parking lot and my adventure at MVS Animal Clinic began. I felt a little out of sorts the first day and spent most it sleeping under the desk in the front office. The ladies were kind and gave me hugs and neck massages; trying to make me feel at home.
I am feeling much better now then when I first arrived. I got a bath this morning and ran all around the clinic because I was so excited. Still, I can’t wait until my Mom comes home!

Pet of the Month of October
"Louie"

We adopted Louie from Big Dog Ranch rescue in March 2020 just as the world changed. There was no doubt in our minds that Dr. Niedermiller would be "Louie's" veterinarian. She has cared for our two cats, Smokey and Marbles, as well as our beloved Shiba Inu, Holly who is in heaven now. The kindness and understanding that the doctor passes onto her patients and clients is exactly what we were looking for in our veterinarian.
Louie has many nicknames to fit his many personalities: Louie the Love Bug, Rowdy Reddy Piper, Piggly Wiggly and lastly King Louie; as he thinks he rules the neighborhood. He has brought so much joy and laughter into our family.
Thank you for choosing Louie to be "Pet of the Month " of October. He will wear his crown proudly on Halloween!

SHEBA!!

This gorgeous little puppy came to us all the way from Oklahoma at the ripe ‘old’ age of 8 weeks. She traveled 1500 miles for 3 days to get to us and has made South Florida (and us), her forever home! She loves to cuddle like an infant, bark back when she’s being disciplined and lets the locals (lizards, ants, squirrels, etc.), know that this is HER land now! She loves her personal size pool and even tries to splash in her water bowl ! Make no bones about it; she’s such a handful but, how lucky are we?

"Opal"

My name is Opal. One day while I was in a place with a lot of cats, two nice ladies noticed me. I was a little scared but excited to meet them. I put on my best show with all the affection I could muster. The next thing I knew I was in a house with a very BIG dog. I am not scared of him; however if he gets too close to me I get into my fighting mode. I jump up with my paws flying and I am again the queen. I am so happy to be in such a great home.

June "Pet of the Month"

My name is Demi. People know me as "Demi the Diva". I was born 02/07/2020 which makes me an Aquarius. I enjoy long walks, treats, naps and snuggle time with Dad. Of course I like to get my nails done in pink, just like a "diva" would! I found my two dad's when I was just 8 weeks old in West Fort Lauderdale from a breeder.

Thank you for making me your "Pet of the Month"

Beautiful Tabby cat needs a good home. His owner passed away this am from a long battle with cancer to whom he was bonded. He is a friendly 8 year old male who is healthy and just vaccinated. He prefers a home with no other cats.

April's Pet of the Month

My name is Snowy—an appropriate name, don’t you think? I am a 12-year old Maltese who came to my family when I was 9 months old.
I was a little jealous when my brother Leo was Pet of the Month last year, but It’s my turn now! Leo may bark at every animal on the TV, but I am much more vocal. I make lots of noise snoring, even when I’m not sleeping. Sometimes you can even hear me in the other room.
Since I’m a little older, I’m not as playful as I used to be but I do have my moments of running around the house. My favorite thing to do is hang out with my Mom. She loves to talk to me in full sentences and as crazy as it seems, I do understand her! My favorite thing she says at 10 o’clock every night is, “Do you want frozen sting beans?” I get so excited for my nightly treat!
This past year, I wasn’t acting right. Luckily Dr. Niedermiller figured out that all my panting and drinking tons of water was due to something called Cushing’s Disease. I look and feel so much better now that I’m taking medication to control it. I go in for regular monitoring, but that’s OK since my Mom knows I’m so much more comfortable.
I’m so happy to be MVS Animal Hospital’s Pet of the Month! Yeah for me!
