Most people will look at Moses and become instantly judgmental. I get the looks and stares when we are out and about. When I find people fixated on us I put a show on to show them he’s definitely not what you think or were expecting. Moses is very well behaved for the most part but he is afraid of other dogs. In dog training terms we call this fear reactive. When he sees other dogs he freaks out but not in an aggressive manner. He freaks out in a fearful manner which is very distinct if you know about dog behavior. From the outside looking in people will think he’s aggressive because of the breed he is but he’s far from the stereotypical pitt bull people assume he is. He’s smart , sweet , funny and protective (in a very good way, I feel safe with him.) Moses is staying with me for two weeks and my mission is to help him learn how to regulate his emotions around other dogs. We did our first train mission yesterday at the park. He freaked out a bit but definitely got in to the swing of things as we continued to work. A journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step. If you are a pet parent to a reactive dog , don’t give up and don’t be hard on yourself! You got this! Don’t focus on other people and their perception of you or your dog. Focus on you and your dogs energy . Keep working and building your relationship with your dog. It’s not an overnight process, not easy, but it will be rewarding when you see the progress.

Hi I am “Doobie” and the people’z call me a German Shorthair Pointer, but my person dad calls me Doobie. They say when I am all growed up I am going to weigh 75 pounds. I have really nice person dad who takes really good care of me and teaches me new stuff. And sometimes he drops me off to the day care lady’s house and we get to PLAY ALL DAY LONG. Life is pretty cool so far , with this life I could stay here a while 🐾.

Hi I’am Doobie and I about 12 weeks old. The peoples say I am a German shorthair Pointer, and that when I am all growed up I’ll be about 75 Pounds! But for now I am just a tiny tot making my way in to the peoples hearts everywhere 😊. It gets me lots of tasty snacks and they’re always yelling “Who’s a good boy?!” And when I look at them straight in the eyes like this 👀 they say “Yes” and then hand me the yummy things. Oh sweet Skylar 😍🥰🐾, you are the gentlest of giants. But of course I expect nothing less from a mastiff🫶🏾💚. Mastiffs are big dogs but their hearts exceed their size. Rennie and I have been going on walks once a week to help us bond and gain trust. Her Brother Gatsby ( whom I will post next) is in on the deal as well. We are doing this so when it comes time for their parents to go out of town they’ll already be comfortable with me. I love this part of the process because it helps build a great foundation for a long lasting relationship with me and the pups ( or cats 🐱) families 🐾💚

Took my guy George swimming today! He did an excellent job!
George has K9 cognitive dysfunction Aka Dog Dementia. It’s important to continue to give them enrichment activities to try to keep the symptoms at bay. It’s hard for dogs with this condition to settle, so paying extra attention to diet , mental and physical stimulation is extremely important. Especially if you want your pup to get as much peace as possible. George just turned 17! He’s blind , got dementia, partially deaf ( we think), but he’s still got life! And as long as he’s here I am here to help bring light to his darkness and ease to his restlessness.

Treat your Sr. Dogs with love and compassion, patience and love. They were their for you when you needed them so now it’s your turn to return the favor. Love them just as you did the first day they arrived in your life. They are Angels in disguise. Ya never know how who will speak for you on the other side. It’s a blessing to have them in our lives!
