One of the most important parts of detection work is learning to trust your dog and stay patient through the process. Today we worked a trailer search using a cone setup to help the dog source the outer odor.
Instead of rushing in or over-handling, we allowed the dog time to problem solve, work through the scent picture, and figure it out on their own. That patience builds confidence, independence, and a clearer understanding for the dog.
Good detection work isn’t about speed — it’s about letting the dog work odor honestly and teaching them that staying committed to source pays off every time. Proud of the progress being made. 🐕💨
