VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ AND SHARE!!!
January through March is coyote breeding season!!! That means they are highly aggressive and a lot more bold than normal!
Here’s some things you can do to help keep you and your pets safe!
1️⃣ Supervise your dog: Keep your dog on a leash and don't leave them unattended, especially at night.
2️⃣Secure your yard: Install a fence that's at least 6 feet tall and buried 6 inches underground. You can also add a coyote roller on top of the fence. Even with a 6ft fence coyotes can jump them easily if you want to so keep and eye on your pets when they’re outside!
3️⃣Remove attractants: Keep pet food indoors and secure trash cans with wildlife-proof lids.
4️⃣Use hazing tools: Carry a whistle, stick, or other tool to scare away coyotes.
5️⃣Spay or neuter your dog: Coyotes are attracted to un-spayed or unneutered dogs.
6️⃣Be aware of your surroundings: Stay on well-lit, populated paths, especially during dusk and dawn.
7️⃣Contact animal control: If you see a coyote acting bold, contact your local animal control.
I live in town in DeerCreek and as a client was leaving after dropping of their pup they ran back inside and said that there was a coyote standing in my front yard!! When I looked out the window it ran around the back of my house where my dogs were!!! It scared me so much because I know how easy it is for coyotes to grab small dogs and then run off! So please keep a close eye on your pets especially the ones that might live outside! If you can bring them in and lock them up at night so that they are safer!
