🐾 ADOPTION OF THE YEAR: Arya’s Miracle Match!🏆💖

After over a year in our care, Arya—this year’s longest-standing resident and once deemed a “behavior dog”—has officially left the shelter life behind for a loving forever home. And we’re not just celebrating an adoption… we’re naming Arya’s match the ADOPTION of the year!

Arya’s journey is a testament to the power of patience, love, and unwavering commitment. Dogs like her, with behavioral challenges, are too often overlooked or left behind. But at Animal Harbor, we believe every life matters. From our passionate staff who built her behavior modification plan, to our volunteer dog trainer Tommy who put in the work day after day, and to every person who loved her through it helping to mold her into the exceptional companion that she will become—we offer our deepest thanks.

When Claire came to us—referred by a previous adopter—she didn’t ask for the easiest dog. She asked for the one who’d waited the longest. With an open heart and an even more powerful open mind, she met Arya, and saw the extraordinary soul within.

This adoption is more than a milestone—it’s a movement. It shows what it really takes to save ONE life. The teamwork. The hope. The belief that change is possible. Today, our community celebrates a MAJOR win: a deserving dog didn’t just make it out—she walked into a future filled with love and purpose.

✨ Arya found an exceptional human. And thanks to a band of people who never stopped believing in her miracle, this good girl finally got her good day.

Guess who's headed to Massachusetts to her forever home?! Our amazing girl, Feyre! 🐾

It still breaks our hearts that she was surrendered because her owners had a "new litter of puppies" and decided she was no longer in the "puppy stage." We've always said they were so incredibly foolish to let such a remarkable dog go.

But today, our hearts are bursting with joy because Feyre is off to the family of her dreams!

See a Cat with a Tipped Ear? Here's What It Means...

Ever spot a neighborhood cat with a small, flat tip missing from its ear? That's an eartip, and it's a vital sign you've encountered a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) cat!

TNR is the most humane and effective way to manage outdoor cat populations. Animal Care Center and Animal Harbor's collaboration has already helped hundreds of cats, and we're aiming for 1,000 local cats fixed!

What is TNR⁉️

🐾 Cats are humanely trapped.
🐱 They're spayed or neutered and vaccinated, stopping endless litters.
🐾 Their ear is "tipped" – a quick, painless mark under anesthesia.
🐱 They're then returned to their outdoor homes.

Why the Eartip ⁉️

The eartip (usually the left ear) is a universal, permanent signal:
🐾 This cat has been fixed and vaccinated through a TNR program.
🐱 It prevents them from being re-trapped unnecessarily.
🐾 It tells everyone this cat is part of a managed, healthy colony.

Meet Sabry, the sweet one-year-old mixed breed boy. Despite being with us for six months, he hasn't received a single adoption application.

This makes him a true underdog, often overlooked, and it breaks our hearts because we know the incredible companion he's waiting to become.

Sabry is a gentle soul who yearns for connection, though he's a little on the shy side initially. He's been waiting for someone to see past his initial bashfulness and help him build the confidence he needs to truly blossom. This sweet boy deeply wants to be loved; he just needs a gentle hand and a kind heart to show him the ropes.

And trust us, the wait for Sabry to open up is more than worth it! Once he feels safe and secure, his affectionate side shines through like a beacon. Emergency Foster Needed for Four 12-Week-Old Puppies! 🆘

Four adorable 12-week-old puppies at our shelter are in urgent need of foster homes! These sweet pups are showing signs of stress and fear directly related to the shelter environment, and their well-being is at risk of rapidly declining both mentally and physically.

An employee recently took two of the puppies home for a behavioral assessment, and it became clear that many of their fearful behaviors significantly decreased outside the shelter. This shows just how much a loving home environment could transform these little ones!

These beautiful puppies desperately need a kind individual or two in our community to open their home and provide temporary foster care. Without this crucial step, their chances of becoming adoptable are slim.

And as if that wasn't sweet enough, their dedication earned them a very special reward today: some much-deserved snuggle time with a litter of adorable, playful kittens! Seeing the joy on their faces as they cuddled those tiny furballs was just priceless. It's moments like these that remind us of the incredible power of compassion, no matter your age.
