Does your horse have trouble picking up and maintaining the correct lead or try to nip you when a saddle is girthed up? Has your horse started refusing jumps for no apparent reason or do they have trouble turning around a barrel? Maybe you can tell something is just "off" when you ride him, but you haven't been able to identify the source. Massage therapy can help these cases and many more scenari
os when a horse is exhibiting behaviors typically caused from sore muscles. Massage therapy is also great for horses that are not in pain to keep them feeling their best. By using a combination of red light therapy, essential oils, and massage, I can help your horse become the best equine partner he can be for you. My name is Allison Johnson and I have always had a passion for working with horses.I have owned and ridden horses for over 30 years, and I am always seeking to learn new skills and advance my education with them. I graduated with a degree in Equine Studies in '05 where I competed with my college's equestrian team in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure classes. I have worked under many types of professionals in the equine field to learn and advance my knowledge including equine veterinarians. I interned for Clinton Anderson during the summer of '04 at the Wahl Equestrian Center where I studied training techniques and learned barn management skills. I am a current CHA riding instructor, certified to teach both English and Western riding, and I have taught riding lessons for 15 years. Several years of teaching experience were spent coaching a special needs riding team and for 7 years I worked at, then managed a barn in Somerville, AL. I became certified in Equine Massage Therapy seven years ago and then started this business, Soft Touch Equine Therapy by Allison. I specialize in Myofascial Release Therapy which focuses on the deeper connective tissues of the horse. In addition to that certification, I am also certified in Red Light Therapy and Kinesiology Taping and I use thermal imaging in my massage practice. I also offer saddle fitting services for both English and Western riders. I have experience working with and riding many different breeds of horses, but my personal breed of choice is the Arabian.
