PAWS of Adams County, Indiana

PAWS of Adams County, Indiana PAWS stands for Pets Are Worth Saving. We are an animal welfare group that is helping our community by fostering/adopting/ spay/ neutering and educating.

Group Name: PAWS of Adams County

Our mission is to rescue. Our dream is that one day, we won’t have to. OUR MISSION STATEMENT: To better the lives of the homeless, abused, abandoned and neglected animals in our community, to the best of our ability and as resources permit, through fostering, vetting, socialization and adoption. To grow our TNR (trap, neuter, release) program for feral and commu

nity cats in order to help control the over-population problem. To help reunite lost or found animals with their families. To bring education and awareness to our community regarding responsible pet ownership, ways they can help protect these animals and things they can do to have a pro-active role in helping us carry out our mission. WHO WE ARE: PAWS of Adams County, IN is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are a dedicated ALL VOLUNTEER, FOSTER BASED pet rescue. Our hope is to someday secure land and a building to operate an animal shelter in the community where we can carry on our mission on a larger scale. WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP: Since we do not receive any county, state or federal funding to operate our rescue, our lifeline to helping these animals comes solely from donations, fundraisers and our adoption fees. It truly takes a village! This is where you can help! FOSTER: Open your heart and home to an animal while they await adoption. As a foster family, you provide the love and care, and PAWS covers the expense of food, supplies and vetting. You play a huge roll in giving these animals a second chance at life! Occasionally, we also get requests for a respite or compassion foster from someone needing to temporarily place their own animal in a foster home for unexpected reasons. VOLUNTEER: We have numerous volunteer opportunities! Help with fundraisers and events. Grant writing. Transport animals to/from the vet or spay/neuter clinic. Set and check humane live traps for our TNR program. Help search for lost animals. Offer to hold or contain a found animal while searching for its family. DONATE: Monetary donations can be mailed to: PAWS of Adams County - P.O. Box 482 - Decatur, IN 46733 or visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty and click on the “donate” button. We welcome donations of food, scoopable cat litter, bedding, towels, pet toys and supplies, gift cards, and professional services such as grooming, nail trimming, bathing and medical/legal/professional services. DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE! ADOPT: Consider adding a new member to your family! They can enrich your life and offer unconditional love! Meet Tucker! 💙
Tucker is a 25 pound, 4 year old terrier mix. He takes a while to warm up and get comfortable and is not an overly affectionate dog. He is pretty easygoing as far as his daily activity and needs. Tucker has so far shown very little interest in toys but has just recently started to try playing with the resident dog in his foster home. He likes other dogs, cats, and kids.

Tucker is mostly housebroken and crate trained. He does well out of the crate during the day and sleeps with his foster mom at night; however, he is also capable of crating during the day and/or at night as well!

As said, Tucker is very shy. He is afraid of new noises, new situations, and new people. He needs someone who is willing to take the time to allow him to get comfortable in his new surroundings. Due to this, Tucker needs a physical fenced in yard and another dog in the home to be his companion.

Tucker is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, and on heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in adopting Tucker, please visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application.
When applying, please answer each question completely and honestly. Only complete applications will be considered.
Thank you for considering adopting!

🎨 Meet Monet 🖌

Named after Claude Monet because this little girl is truly a piece of art. 💕

Monet is a petite miniature Merle Poodle weighing just 10 lbs 4 oz, and she’s estimated to be around 2½–3 years old. She may be tiny, but she has a BIG personality packed into that little body.

She is a sweet little lap dog who absolutely loves being close to her people. The second she thinks you’re about to sit down, she’s already claimed your spot and is ready to snuggle. When she gets excited, she bounces all over the back of you and even likes to “pull” her foster mom’s ponytail sometimes. 😂

Monet is doing wonderful in her foster home and gets along well with the other dogs and cats. She’s also potty trained and has been a very good girl in the house — she doesn’t get into things during the day and is overall a very easy little companion.

One of the cutest things about her is her little “zoomies” outside. Sometimes she gets so excited she does the happiest tiny spins and runs around the yard like a little dancing fluff ball.

When Monet was found, she had clearly been on her own for quite some time. Her coat was severely overgrown and matted so tightly it came off in one solid piece. She also had a double ear infection and was covered in ticks. Despite all of that, she has remained incredibly loving and sweet.

Monet does have a luxating patella, but it has not slowed her down one bit. She does not limp, and her veterinarian feels she may never require surgery unless it begins causing issues in the future. Many dogs live comfortably with this condition without ever needing surgical correction.

Because of her past, Monet WILL require a physically fenced yard. After spending so much time roaming before being rescued, she still occasionally runs from us when it’s time to come inside. As she continues building trust this may improve, but right now a secure fence is an absolute must for her safety.

Monet has been heartworm tested, started on monthly prevention, and has begun her vaccines. She will also be microchipped and spayed next week before adoption.

Monet is looking for a patient, loving home that understands she’s been through a lot but is ready to spend the rest of her life being spoiled the way she deserves. 💕

Please read her bio fully. Meet and greets will not be set up without an approved application first.

If interested in Monet please fill out an application for her which can be found on our website at

We know many of you have been wondering how our Frenchie girl has been doing.

We are happy to announce that she has almost made a full recovery and has been ADOPTED by her foster family. Her new name is Lulu. Lulu’s new sister, Ruby, was also adopted from us and these girls were both surrendered by the same breeder. Just as their family is making sure Ruby is getting the absolute best care possible with her cancer diagnosis; we know Lulu will as well as she finishes healing. Taking on a foster dog with additional medical needs is not an easy task but this wonderful family did not even hesitate. Congrats Lulu! 💜

Before and after pictures are at the end! ✨

Spay and neuter your pets! It can literally be life saving!

And the hits just keep on coming…

This little guy is Maverick. He is a 7 month old double Merle mini Aussie. He weighs around 12 pounds. Maverick is sweet as can be; however, his right eye is severely under developed and will need to be monitored for infection. He cannot see out of this eye at all. Maverick also has grade 2 out of 6 kidney disease. He will need to be on a special kidney support diet for the rest of his life. Since his kidneys do not work properly, he cannot concentrate his urine so he will also always be extra susceptible to UTIs. Maverick will have a kidney recheck in a couple months to determine if he also needs kidney support medication for the rest of his life. Now, for the topper on the cake: Maverick has a grade 4 out of 4 luxating patella. This means his knee cap cannot even be forced back into position currently and he needs surgery. The estimated cost for this surgery is $5000.

Yep. $5000.

Start adding in the testing we’ve already done on his kidneys, the special diet he is now on and the possibility of lifelong medication and we are basically digging our own graves over here.

We need your help. Maverick needs your help. He deserves to be a happy carefree puppy but due to unethical breeding practices; this poor boy is a genetic nightmare.

Maverick cannot have surgery to repair his knee and relieve the pain until we are able to raise enough funds to cover his surgery.

At this point, we are begging. Please consider making a donation.
