PAWS of Adams County, Indiana

PAWS of Adams County, Indiana PAWS stands for Pets Are Worth Saving. We are an animal welfare group that is helping our community by fostering/adopting/ spay/ neutering and educating.

Group Name: PAWS of Adams County

Our mission is to rescue. Our dream is that one day, we won’t have to. OUR MISSION STATEMENT: To better the lives of the homeless, abused, abandoned and neglected animals in our community, to the best of our ability and as resources permit, through fostering, vetting, socialization and adoption. To grow our TNR (trap, neuter, release) program for feral and commu

nity cats in order to help control the over-population problem. To help reunite lost or found animals with their families. To bring education and awareness to our community regarding responsible pet ownership, ways they can help protect these animals and things they can do to have a pro-active role in helping us carry out our mission. WHO WE ARE: PAWS of Adams County, IN is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are a dedicated ALL VOLUNTEER, FOSTER BASED pet rescue. Our hope is to someday secure land and a building to operate an animal shelter in the community where we can carry on our mission on a larger scale. WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP: Since we do not receive any county, state or federal funding to operate our rescue, our lifeline to helping these animals comes solely from donations, fundraisers and our adoption fees. It truly takes a village! This is where you can help! FOSTER: Open your heart and home to an animal while they await adoption. As a foster family, you provide the love and care, and PAWS covers the expense of food, supplies and vetting. You play a huge roll in giving these animals a second chance at life! Occasionally, we also get requests for a respite or compassion foster from someone needing to temporarily place their own animal in a foster home for unexpected reasons. VOLUNTEER: We have numerous volunteer opportunities! Help with fundraisers and events. Grant writing. Transport animals to/from the vet or spay/neuter clinic. Set and check humane live traps for our TNR program. Help search for lost animals. Offer to hold or contain a found animal while searching for its family. DONATE: Monetary donations can be mailed to: PAWS of Adams County - P.O. Box 482 - Decatur, IN 46733 or visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty and click on the “donate” button. We welcome donations of food, scoopable cat litter, bedding, towels, pet toys and supplies, gift cards, and professional services such as grooming, nail trimming, bathing and medical/legal/professional services. DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE! ADOPT: Consider adding a new member to your family! They can enrich your life and offer unconditional love! Our darling deaf dal - SALLY, now Perdita - has been ADOPTED! She’s been with her family for a couple months now while we’ve waited for her to be old enough to be spayed and they absolutely love their crazy puppy! She loves playing with her new siblings (one is also a Dalmatian) and has learned a couple hand signal commands already! Having a deaf puppy can be quite the challenge but Sally’s forever family has been the perfect fit! Congrats Sally! 💜

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wendy Li🎂!
You know that you're a quarter of a century old now, right? You're catching up with us old ladies! 😁 (IYKYK!)

THANK YOU, once again, for the money you raised (and to all who donated...almost $500!) and for the food, litter and chew toy donation to the rescue in honor of your special day!

And as always, thank you Wendy and Vito for being one of our awesome foster families and volunteers who are always ready to jump in and help when we need it!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

The best part of trapping...... pulling your traps, cameras and dishes because you succeeded in getting your target animal.

The absolute worse part of trapping......pulling your traps, cameras and dishes because after weeks of trying, you failed to get your target animal....

After 5 weeks, we were unable to get the last cat behind Kelley Automotive. She eluded every trap we put out.

I prayed that God would send guidance as to what to do....keep trying, or stop (as maybe we weren't supposed to get her for some reason). 💔
The last 2 times she was here last week, she would not even go into the first part of the trap for the high value food, then the past 4 days and nights she has not shown up on either camera, (after showing up almost daily for weeks).... I think I got my answer.

We can only pray that she has someone feeding her nearby and she was just coming here for the extra good canned catfood and chicken. At least she's already spayed...so no chance of kittens, but we were trying to relocate these cats to where they would be welcome and fed, as that's no longer an option here.
Best wishes to you girl...where ever you are.

I made friends with a raccoon family and a possum family the past several weeks. We pray that they will find a spot with plenty of food and trees somewhere. A couple of the littles were so scraggly and tiny.
I'm glad I got to meet you and hope that you grow up to live long, healthy lives.

Please, watch over all of them God.

10 cats were trapped. We have 6 adults and 2 kittens needing a new place to land...can you help?

And please, for the love of God...SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR CATS (and dogs). GET INVOLVED IN TNR WORK (Trap, Neuter, Return/Release/Relocate) TO HELP COMMUNITY CATS.
Please stop saying it's not your problem...because it's a community problem, and if you're part of a community, then it makes it your problem, and it's up to you to get involved.
These cats (and all the others in our town and county) are the innocent victims of humans who have let them down. HELP THEM!

⚡️Thor⚡️
💫Meet this 41 pound, super affectionate, 11 month old boy! Thor is an Australian Shepherd mix that will turn one on 8/20. We believe he has some Heeler in him also based on looks. He has a mostly golden retriever type personality but we have zero proof that he has any golden retriever in him.
💫Thor is crate trained, potty trained, rides excellent in the car, walks well on leash and was an angel for his bath. He tends to bark at dogs he sees and does not know but has been absolutely wonderful with every dog he has met. Thor also does not mind cats but may be inclined to chase if one took off running - he is a puppy and a herding breed after all. Thor is great with kids and all people.
💫He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo/lepto and bordatella, wormed and started on heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in adopting Thor please visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application.

🌴STITCH🌴

“Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

🐚Stitch is an adorable 6/7 month old German Shepherd mix puppy. He and his sister were dumped out in the country. We couldn’t leave them behind so they were trapped and brought into rescue.
🐚While shy at first, Stitch does now seek attention/affection. Feeding time is his favorite! He squeals in excitement and he dives into his bowl so fast. He was under weight so we are feeding several times a day to correct that at a healthy pace. Stitch is currently 33 pounds.
🐚Stitch loves other dogs and we see no reason why he would have any issues with cats. He is good with kids and all people as long as they go slow until he gets to know them. Stitch is still learning to walk on leash and loves laying in kiddie pools to cool off!
🐚 He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, fully vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo/lepto and bordatella, wormed and started on heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in adopting Stitch please visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application.

“Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

🌴Lilo is an adorable 6/7 month old German Shepherd mix puppy. Her and her brother were dumped out in the country. We couldn’t leave them behind so they were trapped and brought into rescue.
🌴While shy at first, Lilo now absolutely loves attention/affection. Feeding time is her favorite! She squeals in excitement and her body wiggles so fast. She was under weight so we are feeding several times a day to correct that at a healthy pace. Lilo is currently 30 pounds.
🌴Lilo loves other dogs and we see no reason why she would have any issues with cats. She is good with kids and all people. Lilo is still learning to walk on leash so a physical fenced in yard is required.
🌴She has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, fully vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo/lepto and bordatella, wormed and started on heartworm prevention.

Meet Miss Cooper!
Miss Cooper is a sheltie mix with a bundle of love and expertise to share. At 13 years old, she has learned a lot of life lessons and has become an expert napper. Cooper’s motto: “Life is short, nap often.”

This sweet old lady is looking for a cozy retirement home to call her own. Cooper would love a place where she can snooze throughout the day and enjoy the finer things in life. She is a very chill dog and likes to take things easy. She loves laying in front of a fan on hot summer days. Sometimes you’ll catch her squeaking her favorite piggy toy while you snack, as if she’s asking you to share.

Cooper walks well on a leash and also enjoys taking small strolls throughout the neighborhood (at her pace).
She is crate trained and potty trained. She also does just fine free roaming the house. Cooper gets along well with other dogs, cats, and does not mind kids.

Cooper is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heart-worm negative, and on regular heartworm prevention.

Ready to be Cooper’s retirement home? Head on over to our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application.
When applying, please answer each question completely and honestly. Only complete applications will be considered.

So....these 2 babies need a foster...(or foster to adopt).
They are 2 of the 10 cats I've trapped behind Kelley Automotive in Decatur.

The plan was to trap/neuter and relocate, because they need removed from the area, I'd love to see these 2 babies end up in inside homes, as opposed to barn or outdoor cats.
Sidenote: (I am attempting to socialize 6 adults with hopes of finding them homes as well...either inside or out. All adults are spayed/neutered. They will need to be properly acclimated to their new surroundings if outdoors).

Renegade (male / black) and Mustang (female / tabby) are approximately 10 weeks old. They can be petted and held for a few minutes but are still learning to trust.

With trying to take care of our own animals, the 6 adults that were trapped and still trying to get the last adult to get in a trap who is very much trap savvy and outsmarting me (I've been at this for 4 weeks now), I need someone with more time to socialize these sweeties.

Please, if you can foster, we cover all food, supplies and vetting. If you want to add this cute pair to your family, they will be completely vetted.

You can find our application on our website to foster or adopt at www.pawsofadamscounty.com.
