PAWS of Adams County, Indiana

PAWS of Adams County, Indiana PAWS stands for Pets Are Worth Saving. We are an animal welfare group that is helping our community by fostering/adopting/ spay/ neutering and educating.

Group Name: PAWS of Adams County

Our mission is to rescue. Our dream is that one day, we won’t have to. OUR MISSION STATEMENT: To better the lives of the homeless, abused, abandoned and neglected animals in our community, to the best of our ability and as resources permit, through fostering, vetting, socialization and adoption. To grow our TNR (trap, neuter, release) program for feral and commu

nity cats in order to help control the over-population problem. To help reunite lost or found animals with their families. To bring education and awareness to our community regarding responsible pet ownership, ways they can help protect these animals and things they can do to have a pro-active role in helping us carry out our mission. WHO WE ARE: PAWS of Adams County, IN is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are a dedicated ALL VOLUNTEER, FOSTER BASED pet rescue. Our hope is to someday secure land and a building to operate an animal shelter in the community where we can carry on our mission on a larger scale. WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP: Since we do not receive any county, state or federal funding to operate our rescue, our lifeline to helping these animals comes solely from donations, fundraisers and our adoption fees. It truly takes a village! This is where you can help! FOSTER: Open your heart and home to an animal while they await adoption. As a foster family, you provide the love and care, and PAWS covers the expense of food, supplies and vetting. You play a huge roll in giving these animals a second chance at life! Occasionally, we also get requests for a respite or compassion foster from someone needing to temporarily place their own animal in a foster home for unexpected reasons. VOLUNTEER: We have numerous volunteer opportunities! Help with fundraisers and events. Grant writing. Transport animals to/from the vet or spay/neuter clinic. Set and check humane live traps for our TNR program. Help search for lost animals. Offer to hold or contain a found animal while searching for its family. DONATE: Monetary donations can be mailed to: PAWS of Adams County - P.O. Box 482 - Decatur, IN 46733 or visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty and click on the “donate” button. We welcome donations of food, scoopable cat litter, bedding, towels, pet toys and supplies, gift cards, and professional services such as grooming, nail trimming, bathing and medical/legal/professional services. DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE! ADOPT: Consider adding a new member to your family! They can enrich your life and offer unconditional love! “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

🌴 Meet STITCH🌴

🐚Stitch is an adorable and handsome 9 month old German Shepherd mix puppy. He and his sister were dumped out in the country. We couldn’t leave them behind so they were trapped and brought into rescue.
🐚Stitch knows no stranger. He is so friendly and everyone is his friend. He greets people with a wigglebut and seeks attention/affection. He loves his chest being scratched!
🐚Stitch loves other dogs and enjoys playing with them, big or small. We see no reason why he would have any issues with cats. He is good with kids and all people as long as they go slow until he gets to know them. Stitch is walking well on a leash although sometimes, he likes to plop down to take a break. He also loves water and enjoys laying in kiddie pools to cool off!
🐚 Stitch is crate trained and mostly potty trained. He is still a puppy so taking him out on a consistent schedule is key.
🐚 He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, fully vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo/lepto and bordatella, wormed and started on heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in being Stitch’s “Ohana”, please visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application for this sweet goofy boy!
When applying, please answer each question completely and honestly. Only complete applications will be considered.

What a beautiful day to announce our latest adoption!

ARCHIE, now MAIZE (Michigan fans...iykyk!) is with his new mama and dad and is settling in nicely! He came in to rescue a bit anxious, but has come so far in his foster home and now, in just the past week, in his new home!

It's always a joy when we have repeat adopters! We knew right away where this boy needed to be!

We're so excited for this little guy to have landed in a home with 2 of the sweetest people we've had the pleasure of meeting! We have no doubt they will love him, spoil him (he's got "a few" toys...lol...enough to tucker him out 🤣) and have the patience with him to bring him out of his shell more and more each day!!

We look forward to holidays, and getting pictures of him in his holiday attire!

Congratulations Maize and enjoy your new family!
We love you sweet boy!

🍁BAILEY🍁
🍂Bailey is a 2 year old, full blooded Dalmatian that weighs just over 40 pounds. While shy with new people at first, she is the sweetest girl once she warms up.
🍂Bailey is good with dogs, cats and kids. She is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on leash and is also a good car rider. Bailey is a great cuddler and wants to be by your side no matter what you are doing. She is a counter top surfer and will steal food if you turn your back for even a few seconds.
🍂Bailey is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention. She came in with a severe double ear infection and is healing nicely but she does have a follow up appointment soon to verify that all the yeast and bacteria is gone.

If you are interested in adopting Bailey please visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application.
When applying, please answer each question completely and honestly. Only complete applications will be considered.

🐣NUGGET🐣
🐥This little Nugget is a 5 month old Chihuahua mix. He currently weighs 6.5 pounds. He can be a spicy nugget when he’s amped up and ready to play but for the most part he’s a sweet cuddly guy.
🐥Nugget is great with dogs, cats and kids. He is mostly potty trained and crate trained. While he’s still getting used to wearing a collar; he does walk well on a harness and leash and rides great in the car.
🐥Nugget has started his vetting but will still need a booster vaccine in a few weeks and will need to be neutered once he reaches an appropriate age. Until then, he is available for foster to adopt.

If you are interested in fostering to adopt Nugget please visit our website at www.pawsofadamscounty.com and submit an adoption application.
When applying, please answer each question completely and honestly. Only complete applications will be considered.

Meet our 2 newest rescues...

These kittens were found in front of Decatur Walmart and were hiding underneath the pumpkin and mum's pallets.

On Monday night I spotted the yellow kitten almost get hit but luckily the tire just missed him or her as the lady was backing out and kitten ran up to the store under the pallets.

Then last night, when Cathy was there, another was spotted and ran under the same pallets. Siblings for sure.

After a couple of hours each night of moving things, strategizing, and getting much needed help from Steve, a few customers and Walmart staff, both were caught/trapped and are currently safe. You all rock!

Having said that...
We are overwhelmed! We need help and more fosters.

Is anyone willing to help these two babies, who are about 6 weeks old and a little feisty at the moment, and socialize them and love them? We can help with food and their vetting when old enough. They are young enough and I'm sure they will come around fairly quickly. I've already seen progress just overnight.

There may be more out there... We're not sure if someone dumped a litter out there or if there's a mama somewhere that had a litter around the store.

PM us if you can help, as our hands are so full right now. Thank you and God bless.
