Puppy field trip day with River!

The goal of outings like this is to let him safely observe, explore, and build confidence in new environments while reinforcing calm behaviors like check-ins, engagement, and settling.

A good reminder that socialization is not just about meeting other dogs. It’s about helping puppies feel neutral, comfortable, and confident experiencing the world around them 🐶

Want a dog who can relax, settle, and stay focused on you even with distractions around?

Start training indoors first, in a controlled environment with minimal distractions. This is where you can actually build the skills like mat training and calm duration work.

Once your dog understands how to settle in a low-distraction space, thne you can gradually increase difficulty and transfer that skill to the real world.

Achieving a calm behavior must be built step by step!

Want your dog to love their muzzle? It starts with making it a game. 🐾

In this video, Casey is building a positive association by moving the muzzle around and encouraging Balto to run over and put his nose into it to get the reward.

Instead of forcing it on, we’re creating excitement and choice. Balto is actively seeking out the muzzle because it predicts something good!

This builds drive and a genuine “want” to put his face in, which makes the whole process smoother and far less stressful.

When muzzle training is fun, dogs feel confident and engaged instead of hesitant or fearful.
