Had a fun day at Doc's Hunt Club guiding this family from Utah. It’s funny how many little things we tend to take for granted. When you see bald eagles on the daily it’s easy to overlook how amazing these birds actually are, until someone gets really excited to see one so close. We all had a good time afield even if the bird count at the tailgate wasn’t as high as maybe I thought it should’ve been, it’s fun to see a family “back together “ after being separated by kids off to college. This one hit a little different when we are all experiencing that first kid off college feeling and having somewhat common ground. Another new connection and another chance to be the stranger that was there with a couple cool dogs making memories.

The girls and I had the pleasure of guiding this father son duo on Saturday. Briggs shot his first ever pheasant and we were lucky enough to play a part in it. The coolest part for me is this 12 yo kid won’t remember my name, probably won’t remember Finch or Hallie’s name, but he’ll remember the day his dad took him to Docs in the rain and snow with a guy and a couple dogs so he could have the best odds of getting that first bird. It’s so fun to share in the excitement of those memories that will last beyond my lifetime.

The girls and I got out Wednesday to play politics and do some guiding. Fun group from all over the country Texas, Missouri, and Florida for this group. The girls did well and it was a beautiful day.

Hey y’all make sure those canine athletes are at there peak performance with PEMF!! Our girls love it, especially after a long couple days of running hard. It also helps with all sorts of healing whether it’s some type of lameness issue or a known injury. Check it out. Your best friend will appreciate it. PS. It’s good for people too.

Got the girls out to chase some wild birds in the morning (we didn’t fair well) and ended the day guiding 1/2 of the Bowman family. I’m going to say that we all had a good time in an understatement.

The girls and I had the pleasure of guiding these fellas on their annual “work buddy” hunt. Rumor has it they had so much fun that they have us booked for next years hunt as well. Tomorrow you will find us back out at Docs guiding the next generation of hunters with ourDallas County Pheasants Forever Chapterr fall youth hunt.

As usual we were having too much fun in the field for pictures. It’s always fun to team up with the TIO folks and take some Veterans hunting. I think we are all leaving with our cups running over.

Things look different this season. With the loss of Wyatt and Ryder I was ready to sell it all and throw in the towel. To say it’s been a rough summer is an understatement. Poor Finch has got the short end of the stick for sure, being on the back burner and honestly missing out on a whole training season while we have been struggling with the whys of everything going on in our lives. Between grieving and the unanswered questions along with sending one kid off to college and changing diapers on another time got away. But thanks to our good friends at Broken Tine Sporting Dogs- Wirehaired Pointing Griffons we have Hallie here to help keep things going. I’ve had the pleasure of hunting behind her a few times and being in awe how she seems to float around the fields. Hallie and Finch worked great together today on our first guide trip of the season in the heat. This season will look different and boy do I miss Wyatt and Ryder, but we’ll keep plugging along. Thank you for following along and supporting this little venture. I’m not sure where we’ll end up, but wherever it is, we can be sure it’s in His plans, not ours.
