After a 20 year marriage I found out he was going to swingers clubs and asking my friends to go with him. I would have done anything to make my marriage work, but that ended it for me. I bought my own house, moved my mom, 3 goats, 2 dogs and me all by myself (since I had to dump all of my friends as well as my marriage!). One person moving crew! Set up the property for the goats and dogs and the house for my 88 year old mom who is on oxygen. Started working full time again, I had retired to take care of my mom. LOVE my new house! It is perfect for everyone! I even bought an old F350 to haul hay and plow my own driveway!! Yes, I fu***ng can!!! This is my new deck after I painted it!!!

A living fence seven years in the making!
When we first moved to this property, we got quotes for privacy fencing that made my wallet weep. $8,000 for something that would eventually rot and need replacing? No thank you.
Instead, I ordered 30 willow saplings—pencil-thin little things that looked laughably inadequate against our wide-open yard. My neighbors watched with barely concealed skepticism as I planted them in a zigzag pattern and carefully wove the flexible branches to create that lattice framework.
""It'll never grow,"" said my well-meaning but doubtful father-in-law. ""You need a real fence.""
The first two years were admittedly unimpressive. The willows looked like a sad attempt at yard art rather than a privacy solution. We had to explain our vision so many times that my husband and I created a shorthand: ""Just wait for year three.""
Year three arrived, and suddenly the willows took off. By year five, we had the beginnings of a true privacy screen. Now in year seven, it's a lush, living wall that requires just seasonal pruning to maintain.
The most unexpected benefit has been the wildlife it attracts. Birds nest in the upper branches, bees visit the spring catkins, and the dappled shade creates the perfect environment for woodland flowers beneath.
Last summer, I shared progress photos in a living fence group on the Tedooo app, and the response was amazing. This wonderful woman who sells handmade plant markers in her Tedooo shop even created custom willow-themed garden stakes for me after seeing our fence.
My father-in-law now refers to it as ""the fence that proved me wrong""—high praise indeed from a man who rarely admits error.
Total cost over seven years? About $200 including the initial saplings, organic fertilizer, and pruning tools. The satisfaction of growing your own privacy? Absolutely priceless.

While walking in my neighbourhood recently I came across this huge slug-like creature. If I zoom in it seems to have skin like a snake. Does anyone know what this is? Sorry, didn't have a banana with me but my size 10 shoe is beside it for size reference.

If you see a bee of any description on the floor or not flying other than on a flowering plant, it is STARVING! You can help.
We are currently well into the 'June Gap' - the time between when the Spring flowering plants stop and the Autumn flowers start producing pollen and nectar.
You can help by mixing two parts sugar to one part water and offering the syrup to the bee. She (and they are mostly ladies) will happily drink from a teaspoon. You'll see her little black tongue as she drinks. It will take about 10 minutes for her to convert the syrup to energy, but she will fly away if you've helped her in time. The feeling you get on seeing her recovery and flight is well worth your time.
PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary measure and 'First Aid' only. The Bees need diversity in their diet and need to pollinate plants in their search for food. I'm not suggesting we feed sugar to Bees as a regular thing.
NO HONEY PLEASE - Disease can be spread easily from colony to colony through this practice and you will do more damage than good. White sugar and water only please x
They can't thank you, so I will on their behalf.
Thanks a million xx 🐝🐝🐝🐝
