Father's Day:
I hope everybody that is a father, Got to talk to their kids today or had their kids call your dad.
I cannot do that, as my dad died about 53 or 54 years ago.
Mom never remarried but she made sure that we were surrounded by good Christian men in the church and every time there was a father's son banquet, or another event, some of the deacons made sure and took us along with them.
Our mom and her three sons were saved in the first Baptist Church at Ormond Beach.
You know, I don't know if my dad was a Christian, I would like to think he was, he's buried behind the same Methodist Church that he attended when he was young in Athens, Georgia.
I don't remember too much about my dad, I do know that my mom took us to church when we lived in California, and he stayed home.
I know my dad was a hard worker, and a hellraiser.
I can remember back then, the police would bring you home If you drank too much, etc.
& I still remember when he brought me to the bar, I think he was proud of his youngest son,...
I suppose he was a country boy at heart as he grew up in the country, I can still remember the small farmhouse that he grew up in.
When my mom knew that she was going to be with the Lord in a couple days, I asked her a simple question:
Mom, what are you going to do first when you get to heaven ?
Mom told me that she's going to find all the relatives that left before her.
Then my mom asked me the same question, I told my mom, I'm going to find my savior that died on the cross for me and thank him!
Mom said, oh I wish I had that answer.
You know folks, I don't go around quoting the scripture or the Bible, or beating the Bible over people's heads, a lot of that's because of my bad memory problems, but I can tell you one thing, when the good Lord calls me home I am going to my eternal, forever home.
This Earth, your home, your life, your situation, this is only your temporary home, there is so much more, I do hope that all my friends will be there with me when the rolls are called up yonder!
Hopefully I well see my dad once again.
