Without youth livestock producers, who will feed our future?

We need to encourage, praise and advocate for these kids.

We need to have someone to pass the baton to, to continue filling our community’s freezer with quality homegrown meat.

We need to teach them, so they can teach future generations. We need to uplift them when times get tough, because farming is not easy.
We need to help build their confidence, so they are able to make choices on their own.

These kids are the future. These kids have big dreams.

AS WELL AS A SUPPLY CHAIN PROBLEM IN GETTING MY REQUIRED MATERIALS.

Saturday August 16, 2025 @ 7 AM, I would like to get several people together to help me at the farm.

Light duty work, fixing several pens - panels on the concrete, couple PVC repairs, light tree trimming, mowing & W**d eating, loading rubbish on a trailer, moving the individual sows to different pens.

I am trying to gear up and get prepared for the late 2025 & 2026 breeding season.

Will take 4-5 hours at most, I will provide Cold drinks at the farm & "Lunch in town" when we are finished.

Well, this guy found five females in heat tonight and they are now documented in my breed book.

I suppose he was not man enough just to walk by my Hereford girl, so he stopped at her gate and his man part came out and he was slapping it on the concrete in front of her.
The poor girl couldn't contain herself & busted right through the gate to get to him.

No time to light candles or put Marvin Gaye on the radio, unbelievable, eventually he walked her back to the boar pen and that's where she is going to spend the night with him

I don't know if he can get to her height wise. It's close but he definitely knows what to do!
Time to start fixing the gates out here and doing some maintenance on this Farm as best as I can.

This guy is still at the farm, could anybody provide a good home for him or?

He is free!

He is a Meishan breed, lazy, Good-Natured.

Give him 2 or 3 lb of food a day and he is happy.

My new boar would prefer that he go find another home to live at!

Well, Phoenix started doing heat checks for me this evening, He's lighting the spark & found a couple females standing in heat.

I documented them in my book, and led him back to his pen, he was the perfect gentleman.
Which is a good thing because I'm still very gimpy.

Look who arrived at the Dew this afternoon., Phoenix is settling in, taking it easy on this 100° day.

A big thanks to Kim Pohle, who brought him down to me, I've used Mrs. Pohle several times over the years, and she has always transported and taken care of my new stock.
