We have a 4 year old Seasoned Female Chesapeake that is available to the right home. She has been hunted over, both waterfowl and upland, good marker, steady, has basic handling skills and can run blinds. She has been spayed, house trained, crate trained, kennel trained, gets along well with most other dogs, and has a typical Chesapeake personality when it comes to strangers - a little slow to warm up and aloof.

She would prefer a quieter life that involves going hunting and being at home with her people and snuggling rather than traveling for hunt tests, competitions, and crowds of people. Sandbar's Breaking Dog News

Scoop decided she wanted to get a little assistance today with these 12 babies. Thanks to Kirby Veterinary Hospital for being a great partner we can rely on for exceptional service and results as our repro vet and being there with us through the TCI with frozen semen and performing the c-section today making sure all pups were thriving. The staff was phenominal as always.

We look forward to watching this clan grow up over the next several weeks, stay tuned....

Well we are getting close for the Grant x Scoop litter (within the next week or so) and we had x-rays done today. From the ultrasound we originally thought there was 6/7 there is definitely more than that, anyone willing to guess how many??? we will have some availabilty now on this litter...please feel free to message us if interested!

Fun mother-daughter weekend at the hunt test. Livee (GCH Next Generation’s Cost of Living JH NA) and her daughter Raea (Barrel Select’s Roots to Reality, Aries x Livee) came home with three passes out of four for the weekend. Livee, after running a lovely land series in Senior on Saturday, decided she wanted all the live flyers for herself and broke on the honor. Fortunately she redeemed herself on on Sunday with her 3rd SH pass. Raea had lots of firsts, first hunt tests, first no birds, first cripples - she handled everything in stride and came away from the weekend with her first two JH passes. Thank you to the LRCGB club, judges, and all the workers who made this event possible!

We are extremely excited to annouce the confirmed litter of our breeding of Grant x Scoop, and our continued collaboration with Diane Baker Sandbar Chesapeakes on this breeding, as well as working with Annette Monugian again with Marnetts Grant My Wish (Grant) as a proven producing stud.

We are extremely proud and honored to share that Sandbar Whistling Winds Roll Them Bones ("Dice"), has earned his Championship, pending AKC approval, with a 3 pt major at the Penobscot Valley Kennel Club show today in Cumberland, ME.

Dice was bred by Diane Baker and we were honored to bring Dice into our kennel and co-own him with Diane 7 months ago. In that time, he has produced a wonderful litter for us, as well as a litter for Diane previously. Todd Turcotte, has had the privelege of showing him these past 7 months and has seen him grow into a great part of the BSK family thanks to Cassia Turcotte's hard work.

A special thanks to the judge, Mrs. Patricia Trotter, for selecting Dice as WD and BOS today for his final major.

We currently have a 4.5 month old female Chesapeake puppy available for consideration. She is crate trained, working on house training (but understands the concept), loves to retrieve and does extremely well hiking off leash in the woods. She has been continuously exposed to new environments, including new places, swimming, car rides, and gunshots. She loves to retrieve and would make someone an excellent companion or hiking buddy. This might be a bit of a last minute strech, but putting it out there to see if anyone from the northeast/east coast or more eastern side of PA/NY are going to the New Castle, PA shows this weekend (5/21-5/24) and might have room for a female chessie? We have a female being transported from IL to Western PA and trying to see if we can cut our 9 hrs drive time from CT down a bit. willing to help with gas and the support.

Getting on our breeder soapbox here for a minute...

We have been seeing multiple posts about a 13-year-old dog in need of rehoming/fostering in the New England area because the owner has been hospitalized and the dog is in need of care. FIRST and FOREMOST, we hope the owner is being taken care of and will have a speedy recovery, and the dog is currently being cared for with at least the minimal essentials from friends and family. We applaud everyone for reaching out and trying to find a solution for caring for this dog.

From a reputable breeder’s perspective, it begs the question, why isn’t the (reputable) breeder listed as the contact for care of the dog? All of our contracts require that we are contacted in this event unless another family member(s) are willing/able to step up as part of their (living) will. This is one of our biggest fears with selling/homing dogs with able bodied retired folks or anyone of all ages, and something we discuss with them when placing a puppy/dog with them. End of life care is always a concern of ours and we are willing/able/required (by our contract) to take the dog back that we bred whenever necessary with no questions asked. Do we expect it to be abused? Absolutely NOT, but over our 15 plus years we have had to get involved a total of maybe 1 time.

My question is, why are we looking for a solution outside of the responsible breeder?
