We took advantage of the sun over the last few days and enjoyed some time with the babies. We work hard at socializing our lambs to have a friendly flock when people visit!

We wrapped up lambing last week! We have been so busy taking care of everyone that we were unable to update sooner, but we have the final count! Total of 13 lambs; 9 girls and 4 boys :) No stillborns this year 🙌

Last Thursday, Elsa delivered three healthy lambs (2 girls, 1 boy) in the wee hours of the morning followed by her daughter, Ruth, having a single (girl) a few hours later.

Last Friday, our final ewe, Zenga, gave us twins in the afternoon (2 girls). These girls were surprisingly small since Zenga comes from Zoey who typically has large triplets every year and I hoped Zenga would follow in her mother's footsteps. She also had one side of her udder that I could get no milk out of so one lamb wasn't getting enough nutrition. Sunday morning I made the tough decision to pull the smaller/weaker lamb and bottle feed her since she hadn't gained weight and was lethargic. I do not like having to pull lambs so this was a hard decision since it can be difficult to train them to take a bottle and being raised by mom is always best EXCEPT when their life is at risk. But after a few hours, she readily started bottle feeding without issue and had much more energy! An amazing family took her home on Monday and the lamb is so loved by them. I am incredibly grateful for them taking her on!

Things don't always work out the way we expect but that's life! I am thankful we had all live lambs this year and everyone seems healthy and happy so far. Please continue to pray it stays that way!

And lastly, we are still waiting on Georgia to release her hostage. We are so excited to meet the new baby and are praying for a healthy mom and cria ❤️

Thanks for your love and support!

Lambing has begun!

Maya kicked us off Wednesday morning with triplets! She is a wonderful mama and hopefully has enough milk for all three 😬 She has two girls and one boy.

Wednesday night Zoey finally had her babies; triplets again! Since Zoey has had two bad mastitis cases she can no longer nurse lambs even though she would love to. We picked up some raw goat colostrum and milk replacer and are feeding them while she still gets to mother them. The first 24 hours were very rough trying to get colostrum into them when they just wanted to nurse from mom. But something clicked after the 24 hour mark and they now understand that food comes from the bottle. So far, so good, but continued prayers for them are much appreciated! She has two boys and one girl.

And then last night ewe lamb, Eclipse gave birth to the most adorable little ewe lamb! A first time mom, just under a year old and she did it all herself and loves her baby ❤️

We have three more ewes to lamb; Elsa, Ruth, and Zenga. Here are some pictures from the last couple days!

Happy National Llama Day (yesterday)! Today we would like to spotlight our oldest girl, Georgia! Georgia and Rosie were our first farm animals ever. We bought them to guard our sheep but they are so much more than guards! They were in poor condition when we got them after not being handled or sheared for 7 years. They were afraid of people and didn't trust us at all. Georgia especially was in rough shape physically and emotionally. But over the last 3 years, with much food, supplementation, and gentle care, she has thrived! Her fiber is thick and full, her skin in much less flaky, she has gained weight, and she is more trusting than she was. She is the sweetest and gentlest of the llamas and is always up for a romp with babies. She let's the sheep snuggle with her and has been a loving auntie to Eddie. We decided to try to breed her this past spring to our classic male, Trenton. We are very pleased to announce that Georgia is pregnant and due to have her cria (baby) in March 2025!

Dayton veterinarian and founder of the Narrows Pet Cemetery, Dr. Raymond Aull, had a pet black squirrel, named Inglebore. Dr. Aull's son, Raymond Aull Jr., acquired Inglebore while traveling, likely for the USN Air Corps. Dr. Aull was known for taking Inglebore with him to events and his veterinary office. Inglebore liked to sit on Dr. Aull's shoulder and nap in his vest pocket.
