Stormy out here looking like she’s about to review your credit score before allowing you in the house. 😎🐾

This beautiful girl is a Phantom❌Rhiannon daughter, and pictures like this remind us why we love our Savage Cane Corso Family so much. Our clients don’t just own their Corso’s… they truly enjoy them. Seeing these dogs living as beloved family members, protectors, companions, and yes — even rocking glasses for a photo shoot — is exactly what we strive for.

One of the things we are most proud of in our program is temperament. A Cane Corso should absolutely have confidence, stability, and natural protective instincts, but they should also be clear-headed, even tempered, and capable of living safely within a family environment. Especially in homes with children, temperament matters just as much as structure and pedigree.

At Savage Cane Corso LLC, we breed with preservation in mind. We study pedigrees heavily and believe bloodline matters, but temperament is never negotiable for this breed.

We are excited to announce that we are expecting puppies within the next week from our Rip❌Mystic pairing — a breeding we are extremely proud of and one that represents the old-school rustic type we love to preserve. Deposits are now being accepted for this litter.

We also want people to understand that we are not a puppy mill. We only breed once per year because we firmly believe in giving our females proper time to recover, regain condition, and remain healthy long term. Preservation breeding means quality over quantity, always.

Injury vs. Weakness

Know the Difference

This is the reality of a powerful, working dog living a real life.

Patellar luxation, ACL, and CCL injuries can all be caused by trauma:
– Hard turns at full speed
– Slipping on wet ground or slick floors
– Awkward landings from jumps
– Impact during play, training, or protection work

These dogs aren’t fragile — they’re athletes.
And just like any athlete, when you push the limits, injuries can happen.

A torn CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) — what many call an “ACL injury” — can happen in a split second.
One bad pivot, one wrong step… and it’s done.

The same goes for traumatic patellar displacement — a hard hit or awkward movement can force the kneecap out of place.

Now here’s the part too many people ignore 👇

Cane Corso puppies are NOT fully developed.
Their joints, growth plates, and ligaments are still forming and don’t fully mature until around 18–19 months.

That means puppies are actually at a higher risk of injury than a fully grown dog when put in the wrong situations.

This is exactly why we stress:
– No jumping off high places (beds, trucks, couches)
– No uncontrolled running and hard cutting especially stairs in a 2 story home.
– No sliding on slick floors
– Be mindful even on wet grass — it’s just as dangerous

When those recommendations aren’t followed, it’s not “bad luck” —
it’s preventable trauma.

One bad fall or slip during this stage can lead to:
– CCL tear
– Patellar issues
– Long-term joint damage

What matters is:
– Proper conditioning as they grow
– Controlled environments
– Knowing when to push and when to protect development
– Addressing injuries early and correctly

Strong dogs don’t avoid injury —
they’re managed correctly so they can stay strong for life.

🐾 “Is there such thing as a full blood Cane Corso in the U.S.?”

Short answer: Yes.
But most people don’t actually understand what that means.

🧬 “Full blood” vs REAL Cane Corso

“Full blood” = purebred on paper

Registered with:
• American Kennel Club
• International Cane Corso Federation

But here’s the truth…

👉 Papers don’t guarantee authenticity
👉 Papers don’t guarantee temperament
👉 Papers don’t guarantee working ability

🇮🇹 The name you NEED to know: Saverio Cortese
I had the honor and privilege to meet this legendary breeder and see his bloodlines up close and personal. My trip to Tropea was not only amazing but very educational.

If you’re talking about real Cane Corsos
you’re talking about the foundation laid by Saverio Cortese.
• One of the key figures in preserving the breed in Italy
• Focused on function over flash
• Dogs were:
• Rustic
• Athletic
• Clear-headed
• Built to work farms and protect families

👉 Not oversized
👉 Not exaggerated
👉 Not bred for trends
This is what people mean when they say:
“Old school Italian Cane Corso.”

⚠️ What happened in the U.S.
Once the breed gained popularity…

You started seeing:
• Size chasing
• Color chasing
• Mastiff influence creeping in
• Loss of true working temperament

And now…

👉 You’ve got dogs that are “purebred” on paper
…but don’t resemble the original Corso in structure or mind

🚫 Let’s be clear on this
• Merle/“exotic” colors = ❌ NOT Cane Corso
• Not recognized by:
• American Kennel Club
• International Cane Corso Federation

That’s not preservation — that’s production.
🧠 The REAL answer

Yes… there are full blood Cane Corsos in the U.S.

But the better question is:

👉 Does it trace back to real working Italian lines?
👉 Does it reflect the type preserved by Saverio Cortese?
👉 Is it built and wired to actually protect and function?

🔥 Savage Cane Corso truth

“Full blood” doesn’t impress us.

Correct. Functional. Proven. — that’s what matters.

Bred to serve. Born to protect. 🛡️🐾

🔥 Confidence isn’t luck — it’s bred and built. 🔥

Today was a big day for our boy Gus (Augustus McCrae) — his first time working in a real industrial environment.

Stacks of fence posts.
Uneven footing.
A forklift rolling right past him.
Loud, unpredictable noise.

And not a flinch.

No panic. No hesitation. Just a young Corso taking it all in stride like he’s been there before. That’s what real confidence looks like — not hype, not staged obedience… but a dog that can step into the unknown and stay clear-headed and composed.

At Savage Cane Corso LLC, this is exactly what we aim for. We don’t just breed for looks — we breed for nerve, stability, and true working temperament. Then we reinforce it with real-world exposure like this.

Because a true family protector isn’t just impressive in the yard…
They’re steady in chaos.

Gus is showing exactly what these old school, rustic bloodlines are meant to do.

Bred to serve. Born to protect.

Confidence isn’t accidental… it’s built.

Meet Augustus McCrae “Gus” — a direct reflection of what we stand for at Savage Cane Corso.

From day one, Gus isn’t being “raised”… he’s being developed.

✔️ Exposed to new environments
✔️ Introduced to real-world sounds, people, and situations
✔️ Taught to think, not panic
✔️ Built up — never broken down

This is how you create a dog that doesn’t just look the part… but lives it.

We don’t breed nervous, unstable, or overly reactive dogs and try to “train it out later.”
We stack the deck from the beginning with:

🔥 Strong, proven rustic Italian bloodlines
🔥 Clear, stable temperaments
🔥 Natural confidence and nerve

Because a true family protector isn’t chaotic…
They’re calm, observant, and controlled until it’s time to act.

That’s the difference.

Gus is showing exactly what happens when genetics + intentional socialization come together the right way.

This isn’t hype. This is the standard.

Bred to serve. Born to protect.

This is what it’s all about. This is Gus, Rip❌Mystic son. He was our keeper out of this pairing. We breed well rounded Corso’s. He’s on a walk with our 5 week old grandson. Notice how Gus stays right by the stroller and is checking on Dawson by looking in the stroller at him. Our Corso’s have stable temperaments. They are amazing with children but will definitely protect their pack if needed. We pride ourselves on knowing that each production is tested and proven.
