This morning, Maverick and his owner worked on being around large trash cans. 🗑️

Maverick isn’t a huge fan of them, so we’re working on teaching him that trash cans are just part of his everyday environment not something he needs to worry about.

The goal is neutrality: notice it, stay calm, and move on. Great work from both of them this morning!

Last night was our first night with the pups for our AKC Puppy STAR Program!

We had a few nervous pups (and nervous owners!) walking into their first class, so we started outside and gave each puppy plenty of space to feel comfortable.

As the class went on and everyone’s nerves started to settle, we were gradually able to bring the puppies closer together and we did it without any reactions!

This is exactly why I believe in meeting each dog where they are and allowing them to learn at their own pace. We don’t rush socialization or force interactions. We create positive experiences, build confidence, and let the puppies succeed.

Such a great night with this group! I can’t wait to see how much they grow over the next several weeks

🐶❄️ DIY Pupcicles! ❄️🐶

Looking for an easy way to keep your dog entertained AND help them cool off on a hot day? Make your own Pupcicles! 🐾

It’s super simple:

1. Fill an old yogurt or cottage cheese container, silicone mold, or dog bowl with water.

2. Freeze it solid.

3. Take it out of the container. I typically break mine into smaller pieces so each dog gets their own.

4. Give them to your dogs outside!

Warning: These can get MESSY!

You can make them as big or as small as you want. For an extra special treat, add some dog friendly goodies before freezing, such as:

🥕 Carrots
🫐 Blueberries
🥜 Peanut butter
🍎 Small pieces of apple
🍌 Banana
🦴 A few pieces of your dog’s regular treats or kibble

Just remember to use healthy additions in moderation and make sure anything you add is safe for your individual dog.

An easy, inexpensive enrichment activity that can keep your pup busy while they cool down! ☀️🐶❄️

Our puppy class isn’t just about teaching obedience. It’s about building confident, resilient dogs!

Last night’s class challenged our puppies to explore brand new textures and surfaces, including cardboard, tarps, and moving boards.

These confidence building exercises help puppies learn that unfamiliar things aren’t scary, they’re opportunities to explore and succeed.
