Does your dog need a new BFF?

In the time that Juneau has been with us she has helped raise quite a few foster puppies. She absolutely loves her role as a foster sister and we think she would thrive with another playful, confident dog in her fur-ever home.

Juneau is about a year old and is an American bulldog mix. She currently weighs around 60lbs. She is house and crate trained.

We are on a mission to get this sweet girl adopted, so even if she’s not the pup for you, please SHARE this post to help us find her family!

Head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to learn more about Juneau and submit an application.

**Some of these pictures were taken when Juneau was younger and smaller. The last picture is the most recent picture.**

Playful, sweet, and smart - how has little Mina not been adopted yet?!

Mina is about 6 months old and is an adorable girl with a big heart. She came to us as a scared and under-socialized puppy, but now she loves making new friends! She especially loves her dog friends and we think she would do best having a doggie brother or sister in her fur-ever home.

Mina weighs about 25lbs and we think that she’s a smooth collie/Australian cattle dog mix. She’s on the smaller side and will probably be around 40lbs when fully-grown. She would be a great farm dog as she has been raised with goats, chickens, horses, cows, and even a massive tortoise!

Mina has been doing great learning her basic manners and has mastered sleeping through the night in her crate. She is a super smart girl and would love a family committed to helping her learn.

If Mina sounds like the little lady you need in your life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

Adoptable Kira wanted us to show you ✨this✨. We’re not quite sure what ✨this✨ is, but we feel it’s a pretty good representation of her personality.

Kira is just about a year old and is a goofy, affectionate, and playful girl. We suspect that she is a Whippet mix and she has a pretty standard sight hound personality of mostly a couch potato, but LOVES to race around when given the chance.

Kira is a petite girl weighing in at only 27lbs. She is house and crate trained and has most of her basic manners training down.

Kira’s ideal home would be with a family with teenagers (or adults-only) in a quiet neighborhood (or even better on some land), with maybe a playful dog buddy. She is the best cuddle buddy and is a total daddy’s girl - although her foster mom is still her second favorite person.

If she sounds like the girl for you, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means? It's time for another Where Are They Now Wednesday!

This week, we're celebrating Winston (previously Skipper)! Winston came to us from the Solano County Sheriff's Office Animal Care Division after he was found as a stray and wasn't claimed by an owner. At the shelter, he was scared and didn't really want to be handled, but a shelter staff member knew he just needed a change of scenery. She brought him home and discovered that Winston was a totally different dog outside of the shelter. She reached out, and he was transferred to us so that he never had to go back to the shelter and could wait in a comfy YCSPCA foster home until he was adopted. It wasn't long before his new mom and dad saw his pictures and fell in love with his adorable face and affectionate personality. He is now his mom's BFF, and they even had matching costumes for Halloween! We are so happy for Winston and his family ❤

To support the rescue of dogs just like Winston, donate on our website, yolospca.org/donate. We are also always looking for new foster homes! The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save. Email us at [email protected] to learn how you can become a Yolo County SPCA dog foster.

It’s week 2 of our mission to get Juneau adopted!

She told us that she wanted us to showcase her two favorite skills - treat catching and gentle toy de-stuffing 🤪

Juneau has been with us for quite some time, but we know her fur-ever family is out there! She is a sweet and sensitive 1-year-old spayedAmerican bulldog/pit bull and weighs about 60lbs. She has done well living with other dogs and teenagers. She’s house and crate trained.

Help us find Juneau’s people and SHARE this post. Even better, if she sounds like she might be a great addition to your family, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

We were so sure that Kodi would get lots of attention when we posted him, but he’s had minimal adoption interest.

Kodi is the epitome of age is just a number. While he may be 11 years old, he is full of energy and loves a good adventure. He and his foster dad take daily long walks together and he would make a great companion for someone who wants a hiking sidekick.

Kodi weighs about 26lbs and is a Shiba Inu. We can’t say for sure if he’s purebred since he was found as a stray, but he definitely has the confident and smart personality you would expect from a Shiba. Unlike most Shibas, he’s a very affectionate guy and will put his head in your lap when he wants some pets.

Kodi seems like he would love a playful dog sibling and he has done great meeting older kids at adoptions events. He is house and crate trained and has his basic manners down, although he is still working on taking treats gently and not pulling on leash.

If Kodi sounds like the handsome gentleman you need in your life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

Ok social media. We need your help!

We know that there are some special adopters out there who would consider opening their homes to kittens like Benny and Lydia. Some kittens are born with a thyroid gland that does not function appropriately- making it hard for them to grow.

Luckily, our friends over at have worked hard to be able to diagnose and treat this disease early! Benny and Lydia both receive an easy to give oral medication with their breakfast and dinner to treat their congenital hypothyroidism. These two are fixed, microchipped, FeLV/FIV negative and up to date on all of their preventatives. Despite being posted for adoption for many weeks, they haven’t had any interest.

Owning a hypothyroid kitty is much easier than it seems- as long as you have time in your day to serve breakfast and dinner, adding in their medication becomes just one tiny extra step! Their medication and bloodwork is also covered through a study until they are 1 year old!

Please SHARE to help us find Benny and Lydia’s people!! You can learn more about them and submit an application on our website, yolospca.org/adopt.

**Benny and Lydia do NOT need to be adopted together. They are not related and have been raised in separate foster homes. They just happen to have the same medical condition.**

Kira takes her self-care very seriously 💝

Kira’s fosters have taught her how to trim her own nails using a scratch board (aka sandpaper on a wooden board). Kira quickly learned that pawing at the board got her treats and now she’s a self-care queen.

Kira can’t wait to show off all her skills to her forever family! She is about a year old and is the cuddliest and wiggliest girl around. She is a petite girl who only weighs about 27lbs and we think she’s a whippet/pit bull mix.

Kira is house and crate trained and has great house manners. She actually seems to prefer men and would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for moderate-energy buddy.

Check out her bio and submit an application on our website, yolospca.org/adopt!

** EVENT CANCELED**

Our adoptable kitties will be staying home warm and dry today. The stress of travel and weather makes it better for them.

Please check out our all of our adoptable animals on our website.

**We will still be at the Davis Petco with some of our adoptable dog.**

It’s going to be a small event, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t come say hi to our adoptable kitties TOMORROW (1/3) at the West Sacramento Petco.

We’ll be there from 11am-2pm. Here’s the lineup of the cats who will be attending the event:
