❤️ “Rescue” vs Rescue💚
Good morning class!
Today’s subject: Rescue!
Rescue means to save someone or something from danger, harm, or a difficult situation through prompt action.
Many rescues we know, and us, have little to no openings due to the high intake levels we are experiencing. Which makes people turn to alternate means of rehoming their pets. A lot of the time we find them on media sites.
It’s important to note that there is a difference between real rescue and lateral “rescue”.
If you “rescue” an animal and….
❤️ DON’T change its husbandry
💚 DON’T change the enclosure
🤎 DON’T vet the animal or plan to
💜 DON’T do your research on the animal
Then you are not truly rescuing. You are simply taking the animal out of a bad situation and putting them in a different bad situation that YOU created.
Rescues:
💚 Immediately change husbandry
❤️ Work quickly to provide the proper enclosure
💜 Provide proper veterinary care
🤎 And never get in over their head, and if they do they reach out for assistance
There is a fine line between the two types. We will continue to provide the best possible care for all the animals we can. Our thoughts go out to all other rescues struggling to keep up with high intake numbers.
🚨If you have rescued an animal and do not know how to care for it please feel free to reach out. While we have no occupancy we can help point you in the right direction!
Class dismissed!
