Omg!!!! Too cute!!!
Royal Caribbean has revealed the latest addition to its growing Icon Class lineup, and it is not a new attraction or dining venue. Instead, the cruise line has introduced a new “Chief Dog Officer” who will live onboard its next ship, continuing a unique tradition that has quickly become a guest favorite.
The cruise line announced that a golden retriever named Skipper will serve as the Chief Dog Officer aboard its upcoming ship, Legend of the Seas. The role is part of an initiative first introduced on Icon of the Seas, where a resident dog acts as a friendly presence for both guests and crew.
Skipper, who was born in early February, has already begun getting familiar with Royal Caribbean’s team after visiting the company’s headquarters in Miami. The dog is expected to join the ship for its inaugural season once it enters service.
The Chief Dog Officer role is now becoming a signature feature of Royal Caribbean’s newest ships. The program began with Rover on Icon of the Seas, followed by Sailor on Star of the Seas.
Each dog is carefully selected and trained, with the cruise line working alongside the American Humane Society to ensure proper care and wellbeing.
Rather than being a mascot, the dogs are considered part of the crew, interacting with guests, participating in activities, and offering a calming presence throughout the ship.
They also take part in special events such as meet-and-greets and charity initiatives, adding another layer to the onboard experience.
Legend of the Seas is currently in the final stages of construction and is scheduled to welcome its first guests in July 2026. The ship will debut in Europe before repositioning to the United States later in the year.
As part of the Icon Class, the vessel is expected to be one of the largest cruise ships in the world, featuring multiple themed neighborhoods, large-scale attractions, and a strong focus on family-friendly experiences.
The addition of a Chief Dog Officer fits into that strategy, helping to create a more personal and memorable onboard environment.
