👋 NOW ENROLLING

Even with highly disciplined working dogs, the majority of my training is built around structured play techniques and strategic engagement games. Not because it’s “cute.” Not because it’s easy. But because it works.

Play is powerful.

When you train through play:
• Engagement becomes organic, not forced.
• The relationship gets stronger, not mechanical.
• Patterns become seamless, because the dog wants to participate.
• Focus isn’t demanded — it’s offered.

Even the most serious, high-level working dogs thrive when training feels like a game they can win. Play builds clarity. It builds intensity. It builds trust.

And honestly? It’s my favorite way to train.

There’s nothing better than watching a dog light up, lock in, and choose you — not because they have to, but because they’re fully invested.

If you want to learn how to harness play to create powerful focus, cleaner patterns, and next-level engagement, join us in our upcoming class:

⭐️The Focus Factory⭐️

We’re breaking down the exact strategies we use to build strong, reliable focus through intentional play.

Spots are limited — come train with us and see the difference for yourself.

Dasher did his first scent work trial this weekend at a CPE venue at the Quad City Dog Center. He qualified in 5/5 which earned him his novice title and got some nice placements, too. Most importantly he didn’t lose his mind around the other dogs. A few barks here and there but quiet in his crate. Was very proud of him. Thanks to all the volunteers, judges Joanne Soyke and Melanie Herbst, and Margaret Legg and Carolyn Venaglia for making the trial happen. And thanks to Joanne for also helping me manage his yelling at other dogs!

Diana Pesek
On Sunday we were back in Iowa and went to Davenport for a CPE trial. That day she got lots of cheese, earning more points toward her C-SNITE title and also toward her Level 3 element title. I also picked up the Level CH element title she earned back in July but didn’t realize then she had reached that milestone until I saw the results later.

Such a fun dog to search with, pass or fail. Love playing nosework with my little fuzzy girl! In the parlance of the dog-driven search, Miss Flicker has a very healthy Bank of Joy and Enthusiasm no matter what happens, and who could ask for more!

Thanks again to both the SPDTC and QCDC folks (volunteers, judges and CO!) for two well-run and fun trials!
