Our newest member of the family

The Brazilian salmon pink bird-eating tarantula (Lasiodora parahybana) is one of the world's largest tarantulas, known for its large size (up to 11-inch legspan) and bold, docile nature, making it a popular display pet. Native to northeastern Brazil, it's a terrestrial ambush predator with a black body and distinctive pinkish-red hairs, using urticating hairs as a defense mechanism instead of relying on its venom, which is not considered medically significant to humans. Despite the name, it rarely eats birds, preferring insects, and is known for its voracious appetite.
