This is our big boy Adidas. He has both FeLV and FIV, so nobody is interested in adopting him 😔FIV is not a concern for friendly FIV cats as it’s only spread to others with deep bites. FeLV can be spread through casual contact so cats in a potential home would need vaccinated against FeLV or Adidas would need to be the only cat. Typically FeLV cats are pretty symptomatic or sickly, but he’s extremely healthy (well other than maybe being a little overweight) 😆

Hi! Welcome to our monthly plea for help 😅

We have some supply needs including; non chicken/beef pill pockets, dryer sheets, and cat litter. Canelo's allergies have started him on a food trial, so we are steering clear of chicken and beef. It is difficult to find pill pockets that do not have chicken in it (For example the Greenies brand has chicken even in the salmon and cheese ones.) We linked a good brand in our Amazon wish list, or of course if you just check ingredients, another type is fine.

Cat litter of any kind is fine, we mix it all together. Same goes for dryer sheets.

Some recent expenses include;

Our long term cat Eddie who had been in a foster home declined due to his FeLV and chronic illness. He had medications, bloodwork, and other care over the last few weeks, and when it was time he was humanely euthanized with his family around him. He was also cremated so he could go back home with them forever.

Teddy and Monday just went to the vet together. Teddy gets a monthly arthritis shot and Monday was due for vaccines.

We just ordered flea prevention for our cats; which we order in bulk to save cost, but when most of our cats are the biggest size it doesn't help as much as if they were smaller 😆🤣

Today Chip went in for his annual wellness exam with vaccines. Stateline Hillcrest Animal Hospital says he's at a good weight and looks healthy!

Pictured below is Milo, who we are working with along with our trainer due to his past abuse to get him more confident and secure for his future forever home.

This is all on top of our regular monthly bills and upkeep, with no funding from the state or city. We only survive because of you all. We are grateful for your support!

Our biggest need right now is Canelo's specialty pill pockets, but any of our wish list supplies is a great way to help out. You can also drop off donations on our picnic table anytime or during thrift shop hours at 1225 N Collett Street, Danville IL.

Our sweet baby Kyle went to a foster home last month, and we are happy to announce that his adoption was finalized 🐾🥳💖

The best part is he went with his old friend Josh, who was adopted from us last year! They are happy to be reunited. Thank you for being double adopters! 😊

It is so hard to see our dogs sitting in our kennels for this long...

Years. Canelo's time seems a lot shorter, but he was already at the county shelter previously and was dumped by his owners in the middle of the night at our facility, so really his life hasn't been much better than the rest.

At this point I'm pleading with the public to help us spread the word on these last 7 dogs we have.

Our kennels are deteriorating. We need the dogs out so we can start renovations to make this place suitable for these long stays that our dogs are enduring.

If you are in the market for an adult dog, please contact us. Thanks to all who have adopted so far and for following our process guidelines. Important to note for anyone applying; please be honest and transparent on your application. These dogs have been through enough and we will not set them up for failure when they have been here so long. We need good, FOREVER adopters.

Some of you might remember Eddie from our shelter. He has been in a foster home due to his chronic illness from FeLV. Last week he went to the rainbow bridge 🌈🐾

We knew he would become hospice at some point, and we are so grateful for his wonderful foster family for keeping him so happy and healthy for 7 whole months!

Eddie got regular grooming from Studio 31 Salon & Spa / Studio 31 Paw Spa and I included their sweet card ❤️💖thank you for keeping him clean and fluffy.

This post is a reminder that there are animals in the shelter that need foster families. We have another FeLV cat that’s much healthier than Eddie was, but has been sitting just because there is still a lot of fear in FeLV. We also have senior animals that don’t deserve living their last years in a shelter.
