Tiny Toy Poodles of Danville VA
How Our Reservation Process Works
At Tiny Toy Poodles of Danville VA, families do not simply join a general waitlist. Instead, families choose an upcoming planned litter and reserve either first pick or second pick before the puppies are born.
This helps families know which parents they are waiting on, what colors and sizes may be expected, and where they stand when it is time to choose a puppy.
Choosing First or Second Pick
When you choose a planned pairing, you may reserve:
First pick β you will have the first choice from the available puppies in that litter, based on the s*x you reserved.
Second pick β you will have the second choice from the available puppies in that litter, based on the s*x you reserved.
Puppy picks are made once the puppies are old enough for me to evaluate their size, structure, temperament, personality, and overall development (usually 7-8 weeks). I do not rush families into choosing too early because tiny toy poodles change a lot as they grow.
Contract and Deposit
To officially reserve your pick, you will sign a contract and place a deposit.
Deposits are non-refundable.
However, deposits are transferable to a future litter if the right puppy is not born, the timing does not work out, or you decide you would rather wait for another planned pairing.
Once your deposit is placed, that pick is held for you. I turn other families away based on that reservation, so deposits are not refunded.
What Happens After You Reserve a Pick
Once you are down for a planned litter, I will keep you updated through the process.
When the mom goes into heat, I will let you know.
When the breeding takes place, I will update you.
Around five weeks into pregnancy, I will confirm pregnancy by ultrasound. At that time, I can usually give an idea of how many puppies she is carrying.
About four weeks after pregnancy confirmation, the mom will deliver.
Once the puppies are born, I will continue updating families as the puppies grow and develop.
Option to Choose an Earlier Available Puppy
One benefit of having a deposit and contract already in place is that you may have an opportunity to choose an earlier puppy if one becomes available.
For example, if you are waiting on a future litter, but another puppy is born earlier and becomes available after reserved picks have chosen, I offer that puppy to families who already have deposits down before I publicly list the puppy.
You are not required to take an earlier puppy. You may choose to wait for the litter you originally reserved. But if an earlier puppy becomes available and feels like the right fit, you may have the option to move your deposit to that puppy instead.
After reserved families and past families have had the opportunity to choose, any remaining puppies will then be posted publicly on Facebook or my website.
If You Do Not Want to Reserve Ahead of Time
If you do not want to sign a contract or place a deposit ahead of time, that is completely fine. You are welcome to watch my page or website for available puppies.
However, puppies are only posted as available after reserved families have chosen and after families with deposits on future litters have been given the opportunity to move forward with an earlier puppy if one is available.
Because of this, many puppies may never be publicly posted as available.
If you are interested in a specific pairing, the best way to secure your spot is to choose the litter you are most interested in, sign the contract, and place your deposit. That is the only way to guarantee first or second pick from a planned litter.
At Tiny Toy Poodles of Danville VA, my goal is not just to place puppies quickly. My goal is to match each puppy with the right family, while giving every puppy the best possible start from birth until the day they go home.
