Putnam Dog Park Daze

I am sad to report that Daxx had to be put down this weekend. He had a great run and almost made it to his 17th birthday.
To my friends who know thanks for your well wishes. I'm gonna try to make it up to Putnam this coming weekend to say hi. I want you all to know that I miss you and thank everyone who helped Daxx and I through a very difficult year.

Help! I can no longer make the drive to Putnam, at least for a while so I think it unfair that I cannot update this site. I do however have hundreds of great photos on a memory stick that should be posted. PLEASE, won't someone be willing to take over this site, at least for a few months and post these amazing photos. Well Gang! It appears that the doggy virus is upon us and one of the dangerous places is any dog park. This is especially sad since not only do the dogs get exercise but so do the owners. My vet, Sam Lambert, has advised me that he strongly recommends that we stay away from the park until vets have a better handle on the virus. I therefore, until further notice, will only go when there is no other dogs in the park. I can only advise that you consult your vet and make your own decisions.
It seems this would be an excellent time for the Lions club or the town of Putnam to do some renovations to the park!!!!!. I can be reached, and I'll post your comments if you contact me at [email protected].

Hi Gang! As you can see this page is all about my activities at the Putnam Lions club Club Dog Park.
All are welcomed here but here are a few tips to make your visit more enjoyable for you and your best bud!
1. Please do not bring your pouch if they have not had all their shots.
2. If you are not sure your dog is a good fit for the park bring him or her down on a leash and take a walk around the park ( a great place for your walking exercise ) The "old hands" will be more then willing and happy to give you advise.
3. Bring some water as it's always appreciated however if you forget , no problem, as we all share.
4. The park is divided into "large" and "small areas although The printed instructions on the signs have been interpreted to mean your the judge as to how your dog will handle either side.
5. Please use the blue bags provided to dispose of your dogs waste. Often times after spending ten minutes in the long grass you won't find your dogs so just pick up any that you see.
6. In spite of our best efforts dogs tend to gather at the gate to welcome new arrivals... PLEAESE Do not bring your dog in on a leash!. The dog will be much more comfortable if they know they are free to run.
These are just a few suggestions. If you have any questions the people here are friendly and never bite! We would be MORE THEN HAPPY to help in any way they can. More then anything we truly believe both you and your fury friend will have fun and make excellent friends. BTW, Observation is that there are more dogs on Wed, Sat, and Sunday mornings.
