Update: We've spoken to the guys who cut, the Dept of Transportation, App Power, and our local extension office for an investigator. I've filled out claims, damage reports, and now we are waiting for someone to be found that can give us some answers. Imagine, in 24 years, the extension office said they've never had anyone call in about this happening. I'm happy to set a precident if this prevents this from happening to other farmers. My goal is to get us on a No-Spray list, and atleast get our hay tested for contaminants. To think that their diet will consist of this hay through the winter has me pretty worried. Send good thoughts that this has a positive outcome. 🤞💜
So....this happened. Our fenceline was sprayed. We didn't authorize it--we weren't asked. Our hay was uncut so they had to see it. The bales have been baled and our guys left the very front uncut because of overspray, but this is a CROP field. Our hay is not grass, it nourishes our animals, and the animals of the gentleman who cut our fields. We can not feed our animals hay that's been contaminated, similarly, the guys who bale can't feed it to cows set for market. I am so disappointed. Now I have to have the men who worked on the fence to come look at the line to see what can be done. 😔 Has anyone else had this done? What do you do?
