We have had several questions and the respiratory virus in the news. Here is an explanation we thought might be helpful. Just like human flu or any other virus’ tgere are multiple strains and some years they make the pups a little sicker than other years and therefore get into the news more.

An important reminder:
It's baby Copperhead season from now through November.
You can see from the photo how tiny they are - BUT - they inject a disproportionate amount of dangerous venom for its size.
They like damp areas so watch around toys, dog bowls, flower pots, etc. If you're weeding look before you grab and wear closed shoes when out in the grass in the event that you inadvertently step on one.
Baby copperheads have a yellow/green tail tip as an additional way to ID.
These guys are born alive - meaning not hatched - in a litter of 3 to 10, so if you see one there's probably more around you.
