A small Jagd Terrier puppy was found tied to a shopping cart behind a store. Someone had poisoned him, and he was barely alive. His tiny body was weak, and he could hardly move or lift his head.

A nearby police officer found the Jagd Terrier puppy while on duty. When he saw the little dog struggling to breathe, he quickly untied him and rushed him to a veterinary clinic. The vet did everything they could, but the puppy was still very weak. No one knew if he would survive the night.

The officer did not want to leave him alone. He stayed beside the Jagd Terrier puppy the entire night, gently talking to him and keeping him warm. Every few minutes, he checked to make sure the little dog was still breathing.

Hours passed slowly.

Then, early the next morning, something amazing happened. The Jagd Terrier puppy slowly opened his eyes. He looked at the officer sitting beside him and weakly lifted one tiny paw, placing it on the officer’s hand. It was a small moment, but it meant everything. The puppy was still fighting to live.

The officers at the station first named him Sky, hoping the little Jagd Terrier would rise above the pain he had suffered.

Over the next three months, the Jagd Terrier puppy slowly grew stronger. He received good food, medical care, and most importantly, love from the officers who visited him every day. His brave little terrier personality started to shine, and the scared dog began to trust people again.

When he finally returned to the police station, the Jagd Terrier looked completely different. He was healthy, energetic, and always wagging his tail. The officers decided to give the dog a new name — Roger — to symbolize his second chance at life.

Roger was originally considered for K9 training, but the officers soon realized this Jagd Terrier had a different gift. Roger had a calm and loyal nature. Whenever an officer was having a hard day, the dog would quietly sit beside them, offering comfort without needing any words.

So instead of becoming a police K9, the Jagd Terrier became the station’s therapy dog.
