Put in the work before jumping to medication.

Here’s the absurd part:
The same SSRI is prescribed for aggression, separation anxiety, leash reactivity, fear of strangers ...
How is that even possible?
One pill to treat everything?!
It DOES NOT work, because these are training and relationship problems, NOT serotonin deficiencies.
What’s more intrusive,
A properly used training collar that gives instant clarity,
or daily medication with side effects like lethargy, emotional dullness, agitation, and even long-term dependency?
Time to flip the script:
Ban the drugs before you ban the tools.

Good morning! I've been holding off on making an announcement, but it's become unavoidable. The bus is down. It needs a new transmission, and I'm out of money to spend on major repairs. I'm going to be looking for a job with benefits and likely grooming out of the bus at home in my off time.

If you are interested in setting up a time to bring your dog to me and it's worth the trip, please message me. I have open availability for the next few weeks while I sort this out. I can also travel for nail trims within a reasonable distance. I've had some people express interest in training in the past, so I may dust off those skills.

To all my clients that are now out of range, thank you for trusting me with your dogs. It was an honor and a privilege to work with them.

Good morning, and Happy Sunday to you all. Now that we're through the holidays and weather (for now), I feel the need to update you on some changes in my life that have affected my business.

A few months ago, with the help of family and friends, I started the process of getting full time custody of my two older children. Without giving unnecessary detail, it was urgent. They are now living with me and much happier. God is good.

The result of the process is that I decided to shrink my service area. I focused on my regulars and my family for the last few months and didn't return many messages. I seriously considered giving up grooming more than once. My clients have been incredibly understanding, and helping dogs still brings me joy and purpose, so I press on as long as my body works and my bus runs. The upside to this change is that I no longer have to drive to Dallas multiple times a week to be in my kid's lives, so I will have more time and flexibility in my schedule.

All this to say that I will have availability for new clients in Princeton, Allen, McKinney, Farmersville, Wylie, and Lavon (and anywhere in between) starting immediately. I will be prioritizing large dog requests, as they are the main focus of my business.

If you've messaged me before or are just looking for a friendly, personalized grooming experience, feel free to reach out. With everything I have, thank you to those who were patient with me throughout, and my apologies to those I can no longer serve.

Cheers to another year of positive dog relationships!

**ADDING NEW CLIENTS**

For the last month or so, I've had to limit my service area. As many of you already know, I've had engine issues related to after-market intake manifolds that couldn't hold up to the amount of work I was doing.

I've been on a list at Ford since my engine was replaced in 2022, with no response. My mechanic recently found a genuine part on Ebay in basically brand-new condition. During this time, I was able to wire my water pump and lights to my battery system, so the bus no longer has to idle during grooming.

All this to say that I will now have more availability for new clients, and more reliability from my bus. Thank you to all of you who were patient with me throughout this process.

Hoping everyone is having a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season. I'm waiting on a replacement blow dryer after mine stopped working last week. Normal service will resume on Friday the 29th. Until then I will be offering discounted baths with towel dry or nail trim appointments to both new and returning clients on a first come, first serve basis. Feel free to comment on this post or send a message. Thank you!

Helping a good boy find a loving home today.

This is Sampson, a male Great Pyrenees. He was found roaming in East McKinney about two years ago. He is chipped and medically up to date, and has been living harmoniously with the family that found him (including children and 2 other dogs.)

Unfortunately, his family is downsizing and doesn't believe Sampson will do well in a more confined environment. I applaud them for recognizing his needs, difficult as it may be. Sampson needs property to roam, and possibly livestock to protect. I have had the pleasure of grooming him for the past year, and he is extremely even-tempered and patient. He is not neutered, but I would think that is preferable in a farm dog.

If you or anyone you know may be in need of a livestock guardian/family dog and has the space, please message me here on Facebook and I'll put you in touch with his owners. I get these requests often, but I'm here advocating for Sampson because I know him to be a kind and gentle soul that deserves a great home.

Monk is here to say that the bus is back to full capacity for the holiday season! Fall is also the time for blown coats and hair everywhere, so don't forget deshedding! I use Vermont Dog shampoo and Double K "The Solution" conditioner for a shiny coat and a pleasant, natural smell.

**Update** I was able to get my current inverter turned back on this morning, but with half the battery capacity. I will continue with morning appointments and shorter afternoon appointments as long as I have enough battery to run adequate A/C. Will be resuming full capacity in September.

I thought I was out of the weeds with that last post, then August said "hold my heat index". Two coolant leaks took me out for over a week earlier this month. The bus now needs a new inverter to run my A/C, blow dryer, clippers. It seems the earliest I can have one delivered is at least a week out.

I will be rescheduling all appointments for early September. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you have an appointment scheduled currently, I'll be reaching out to reschedule to the earliest available as soon as I know more.

I chose the DIY route knowing it would be unpredictable. The patience and support of my awesome clients has made it easier to continue in the face of so many obstacles. I am truly grateful.

When I last posted in January, I had no idea how many obstacles this bus would throw at me over the next few months. I've been mostly taking care of my loyal regulars between repair after repair, but I'm finally in a place where I can add a few new clients. Like this adorable guy, I'm still out here, bullying through it with a smile. Thank you to everyone who was patient with my short notice rescheduling and unexpected down time.
