Its that time of month again when you need to start thinking about deworming your horses.
Most people use the chemical dewormers that the parasites are becoming resistant to. I have chosen to do some research and go a different route.
This type of deworming is more natural and safe for your equine partner, is more gentle on their body and safe for long-term use. Unlike the chemical dewormers that can be harsh and lead to unwanted side effects, an herbal parasite dewormer will work with your horses body by supporting their natural healing process without the added stress.
By adding a natural approach to parasite control to your horses routine, you can regularly protect them from the side effects of a parasitic overload and not worry about any negative effects of the toxins or chemical dewormers.
The best time to deworm is during the full moon. Research has shown that parasites increase their activity within the body. This is due to the gravitational pull and shifts in the biological rhythm. Parasites become more active and come out of hiding deep in your tissues and organs to focus on reproducing. While in their reproductive phase they move around more freely and become exposed and vulnerable. This makes them easier to target with a parasite detox. Starting a detox during this time allows the herbal supplement to reach the worms when they are most vulnerable and exposed.
When you start a worm detox you start need to start 3-5 days prior to the full moon to help get your horses system ready. Continue the detox the day of the full moon and for 3-5 days after. Repeat monthly to prevent future infestations.
There are several all natural deworming supplements for your beloved equine friend. I chose to use Wormless made by Potato Patch Farm in Tuttle, OK.
