Ravenhill In-Home Dog Boarding

Ravenhill In-Home Dog Boarding This page is about happy dogs and general dog care. Boarding in my home is suspended. Aug 2021, Ravenhill is suspending accepting new clients for a while.

If you plan to leave town and don't like the idea of strangers coming to your home, the dog alone all day, or your dog in a cage, kennel, or dog run, then in-home boarding may be the solution for you. Before dogs come to stay, a Meet and Greet will take place so we can evaluate the dog's behavior and comfort level, you can see the place in person, and we can determine if I'm the best fit. I love h

aving my guests' owners and their family and friends here on Facebook, where they can share pictures of their dogs having fun. We even have some page fans who don't have dogs here, but just enjoy all the happy pictures. The guests are all beautiful, and I try to capture that, and from time to time send out practical dog ownership information. I accept altered dogs who are current on vaccinations to stay in my home with me, as family members, while you are away. You bring along bowls, blankets, favorite toys, bed or crate...whatever is a part of your dog's routine. I charge $35 per night. Drop off and pick up times are flexible...as early as 8:30 am, as late as 11pm. I can administer medications and give shots, if your dog needs them. Dogs play with each other and my trained resident dogs, Scout and Leo. They also get to meet the cat, Hogan, who is dog-proof and will teach dogs about cats. Windows come down to the floor, so dogs can see out easily to watch birds and squirrels. Floors are sealed wood and tile, for cool naps in summer. The secure yard has a 6' fence and is spacious with hills, rocks, and many trees. Please, visit Rover.com for more information on how my business works. To schedule a meeting or make a reservation, go to my Rover page. https://www.rover.com/sit/Ravenhill

Messages sent here may not be seen quickly. Insurance is through Rover, although I have added my own as well to protect dog guests. Dogs need a Rover profile for that to apply. I was originally with DogVacay, which Rover bought out. When you go to the Rover site, you can contact me, Chrystal H. via an inquiry. You may also send me a PM at Chrystal Hays page here, or here, but they do not get seen as quickly.

I am trying to get things in order for screening and boarding again. Having both dogs healed after surgery is a big step.
Inflation is going to bump up my prices ( but not double because no shipping costs 🤣).

These are the current cats at Ravenhill.
Gray One is most social, and learning about the dogs most quickly.
Miss Bishop is the tabby, and really seems to like me, but is leery of the dogs. She was mainly in the middle of the house: hallway and pink bathroom.
Spectre lives in my bedroom and doesn't like dogs or me, and isn't even that wild about the other cats. She used to love Hector, but he spurned her. We are working on ways she can get the attention she solicits without anyone bleeding afterwards.

This cat is Gray One.
For a long time, he was a front yard feral, a friend of Hector.
Six months after the loss of Hogan, I got tired of worrying about the outside cats, and brought them in.
Gray One is learning dogs the best.

Scout had a growth on his chest, which was removed in June. It was benign. He's all healed up now. He had to wear a shirt, and then a cone, and a little crate rest, so it could heal without The Licking.
He is 12, but closer to middle age these days. Good thing he loves being in Houses.

In November of 2024, Hogan began developing symptoms in addition to the epilepsy. Minor turns of the head, but they were involuntary. It was not much, but it was not responsive to his medication.
I didn't want to ask him to fight more. He'd overcome so much. So we went to VEG and he was very relaxed for the final care.
He is missed. Ravenhill hasn't been without him since I began living here after the fire. Life without a do***ng cat is strange.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of his life and shared their dogs with him. He loved them.

Leo had lumps on his legs that had to come off.
He's 10. There were 4 in all.
Fortunately, all were benign. He's recovering from this, but is on strict Cone and Leash walking until he heals enough that he can't lick the incisions open.
He did very well for a big old guy!

About Ravenhill

In-home boarding, photography, light training, some grooming- including brushouts! Ravenhill is my home, but also a home-away-from-home for dogs. If you plan to leave town and don't like the idea of strangers coming to your home, the idea of your dog alone all day, or thinking of your dog in a cage, kennel, or dog run, then in-home boarding at Ravenhill may be the solution for you. Ravenhill is also handy if you want to have a late “date night” and do not want to worry about getting back in time to let your dog out, if workmen are coming to work on the house and you don’t want your dogs to be stressed, if people are coming over and will be in and out and you don’t want to risk your pooch getting loose, or if you have to work late nights sometimes. Ravenhill can be a good way to get some current photos of your dog, grooming, or training, as well. Before dogs come to stay, a Meet and Greet must take place so I can evaluate your dog's behavior and comfort level, you can see the place in person, and we can determine if I'm the best fit. I accept altered dogs who are current on vaccinations to stay in my home with me, as family members, while you are away. You bring along your dog’s own food, food bowl, blankets, favorite toys, bed or crate...whatever is a part of your dog's routine. I charge $35 per night per dog. Drop off and pick up times are flexible...as early as 8:30 am, as late as 11pm. I can administer medications and give shots, if your dog needs them. Dogs who need extended medical care, like post-surgical care, bandage changes, or a Bailey chair, can get it here for a daily surcharge. Dogs play with each other and my trained resident dogs, Scout and Leo. They also get to meet the cat, Hogan, who is “dog-proof” and will teach dogs about cats. Ginger Pie is the second cat, also good with dogs who are learning to speak cat. My home was set up with pets in mind. Windows come down to the floor, so dogs can see out easily to watch birds and squirrels. Floors are sealed wood and tile, for cool naps in summer. The secure yard has a 6' fence and is spacious, featuring hills, rocks, a sandpit, and many trees. I do light training, and can help you work on some issues, and reinforce good behavior. I also am very good at helping families get their pets into better shape. If a pet needs to gain or lose weight, I am glad to consult with you and offer tips or come up with a safe, reasonable program that will, over time, help your pet live a longer, healthier life. Sometimes owners feel guilty about making changes, and I am glad to gradually introduce them while a dog is here, so the dog is ready for the new program when he or she goes home. If you have specific training issues you would like to work on and do not need boarding, I do some kinds of training in sessions here. To request this, you basically request “boarding” for a day with the dates on the same date and I adjust the cost accordingly after we communicate about what you may need. I will do a brush-out if you have a double-coated dog who is shedding or having a seasonal “blow out”. I do some kinds of grooming. I can work out matting on most dogs. Let me know your situation and I can give you an estimate. I’m not a professional groomer, so it is usually a lower cost than one, but it will also take a little longer and probably won’t look exactly like a show dog when I am done, either. Although I work through Rover.com, and that is where my professional “work” website is, I love having my guests' owners and their family and friends able to come here on Facebook, where they can easily find and share pictures of their dogs having fun. We even have some page fans who don't have dogs, but just enjoy all the happy pictures. Everyone needs more happy dog pictures! The guests are all beautiful, and I try to capture that, and from time to time send out practical dog ownership information. To schedule a meeting or make a reservation, go to my Rover page. this is the platform through which I conduct business. https://www.rover.com/sit/Ravenhill You can get more information and detail on how my business works. You set up a profile for your dog there. Insurance is through Rover, although I have added my own as well to protect dog guests; dogs need a Rover profile for that to apply. When you go to the Rover site, you can contact me, Chrystal H. via an inquiry. My promotional code is Ravenhill2020, and you can use that to save $20 on your first booking with Rover...whether you use me or someone else. [ You can also see other people who do similar kind of work.] You may also send me a PM at “Chrystal Hays” page, or here on the Ravenhill page, but they sometimes do not get seen as quickly as messages from the Rover site. I cannot do phone calls due to the nature of my work. This has worked out just fine since I began this in 2012. Texting and communicating using the Rover tools also allows me to look back and get information about your dog if I need it later.
