Even though it grows rapidly, normally aligned beaks in healthy birds rarely need to be trimmed provided your bird has plenty of toys to keep their beak in shape!

Did you know that the keratin layer of the beak (called the rhamphotheca) can grow at a rate of ΒΌ- Β½ inch per month? It is important to offer parrots a variety of options to chew in order to naturally wear down the beak and keep it well groomed. This can include options to climb and open food items (like shelled nuts in moderation), as well as offering a variety of destructible toys and natural perches.
