🌟 A Spotlight for Dawson 🌟
Dawson is a sweet, gentle 4-year-old Shar Pei (and according to his DNA test, chihuahua!) who's got it all: he's potty trained, well mannered, and a loving companion. This precious pup has been with our shelter over 2 years- but you could help us change that! When you share this post, you're helping us get this sweet boy in front of the eyes of countless potential adopters! Dawson spent a bit of time with a foster where he did perfectly, and we know he would make a wonderful addition to any home ❤️‍🩹

Sally Brown, a pup who has been searching for a family with the help of a foster, will be at the shelter all day Saturday for - with ALL ADOPTION FEES WAIVED!

Here's some notes from her foster family:
"Sally is a 70-lb mixed breed with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Just over a year old, she’s an active, playful dog who’s happiest when she has room to run, toys to toss around, and people to spend time with. Sally entertains herself with her toys but is just as eager to join you on walks or for a game of fetch. After she’s burned off some energy, she loves to settle in close for downtime and cuddles.

Sally currently lives in a foster home with two other dogs: a medium-sized playmate and a very small senior chihuahua, and does well with both. Because of her size and enthusiasm, she’ll do best in an adult home or one with older kids who can match her energy. She’s ready for an active family who will enjoy both her playful side and her affectionate nature."

Poor Eeyore! 🐶 This 9-month-old bulldog gave us quite a scare after a tummy blockage left him with a low appetite. Thanks to some dedicated TLC from our staff, including IV fluids and regular snacks to increase his food intake, Eeyore is quickly on the mend and will hopefully be back to his goofy self in no time!

🐾 Meet Meg: a sweet girl with a little something that makes her extra special! One of our amazing volunteers noticed a lump on her chest, so we had her checked out by one of our veterinary partners. After an exam and X-rays, it turns out it’s simply the way one of her ribs formed, likely from birth or a young injury.

The good news? It doesn’t cause her any pain, and our vet is confident it won’t affect her as she grows. Meg is healthy, happy, and ready to find her forever home, lump and all! 💕

From August 1-31st, our adoption fees will be reduced to just $25 in participation with nationwide adoption event, and adoptions will be FREE on August 23rd! Don't miss the chance to bring your new best friend home.

What a weekend to remember! While our team had an exciting day at the HSNT Mega Adoption Event on Saturday, the celebrations didn’t stop there- our shelter was busy making happy endings, too!
✨ Cat Sisu found her forever family
✨ Foster-to-adopt pup Reiner (our GSD superstar!) made it official with their foster
✨ And long-term resident Izzy the senior tripod was adopted by her foster, who gave her all the love she deserved while waiting 🐶❤️

So many lives changed in just one weekend, and we couldn’t be happier! 🥳

About Our Shelter

Founded in 1967 by four Irving residents who saw a need to care for stray and abandoned pets, DFW Humane Society has remained committed to rescuing neglected and unwanted pets and giving them a second chance in life through adoption.

Each year with contributions from compassionate and concerned donors, DFW Humane Society rescues and finds homes for almost 1000 pets. While at our shelter, our pets receive top-quality daily care and food, medical attention, when necessary, at local veterinary clinics, and love, interaction, and enrichment from both shelter staff and a host of dedicated volunteers.

With help from donors, we are also fortunate to have the Guardian Angel Fund, a restricted fund used to pay for extraordinary medical expenses such as heartworm treatments, broken limbs, and other higher-cost medical procedures.
