Animals Abused & Abandoned Inc

Animals Abused & Abandoned Inc Each month Animals3 spotlights a dog, cat or horse in need of emergency medical or surgical care.

Animals Abused & Abandoned makes direct payments to veterinarians for emergency medical and surgical care for dogs, cats and horses, that are victims of traumatic injuries and that have been abused, starved and abandoned by their owners. Many of these stories feature an animal that was rescued by a small, under-funded, volunteer organization. Payments are made directly to the veterinarians providi

ng the care that relieved these animals from their suffering as a result of traumatic injury, life-threatening illness, starvation and abandonment.

Remember this next time you pet your dog or cat.

Think all petting feels good to your dog? Not even close. Science shows a lot of what we call affection is actually overstimulation. Slow it down. Your dog doesn’t want a drum solo on their head. Slow strokes equal calm, fast pats equal stress.

A new peer-revied study surveying dog and cat owners looked at how touch relates to pet wellbeing and found clear differences between species. For dogs, gentle petting had the biggest positive impact, especially slow, calm stroking along the chest, shoulders, and sides. The more time and physical contact, the better, with added benefits when dogs lean on their owners or sleep close by. This type of touch mimics natural social grooming and helps reduce stress while promoting relaxation. In contrast, owner-initiated petting didn’t have the same effect in cats. What mattered more was cat-initiated contact, particularly head rubbing, also known as bunting. Gentle touch can improve wellbeing, but only when it aligns with the animal’s natural behavior and comfort level. Takeaway: If your dog leans into you, relaxes, or closes their eyes, you’re doing it right, if they pull away or get restless, adjust pressure or location.

This Giving Tuesday help us help more.

Your Donations Relieve Their Suffering.
They are the innocent and voiceless dogs, cats and horses with whom we share this planet. They have so much loyalty and unconditional love to give us, but get no relief from starvation, traumatic injuries or life-threatening illnesses without human intervention. Your donations make these interventions possible. You give them the precious gift of hope for a kind and loving forever home.

Over the past 17 years Animals Abused & Abandoned has made 664 separate disbursements, totaling $286,245.16 to relieve the suffering of 1,947 innocent and helpless dogs, cats and horses. Of that total, $121,175.63 was paid directly to veterinarians for emergency medical-surgical care and medications, $106,364.15 to suppliers of food and critical supplements for extreme malnutrition, $28,931.40 to vets for spay and neuter surgeries, and $29,773.98 to professional trainers for our “Train to Rehome” program.

Your loyal and faithful support is vital to our continuing this work for unwanted but innocent and helpless dogs, cats and horses in crisis. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.

Animals Abused & Abandoned, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Your gift is fully tax deductible.

This Giving Tuesday, I’m asking for your help to change the lives of animals who’ve known nothing but
fear, pain, or abandonment. Some come to us starved, injured, or too scared to lift their heads. Others
have been left behind with no one to speak for them.
Your donation—no matter the size—gives them what they’ve never had: safety, gentle hands, warm
beds, full bellies, and the chance to finally feel loved. Every dollar goes directly toward medical care,
food, shelter, and rehabilitation for animals who deserve a second chance.
If you believe every animal deserves compassion, please consider giving today. Together, we can turn
their stories from heartbreak to hope.
Thank you for caring.

Food for thought.

❓ Why do we think Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return (TNVR) is necessary?

🛑 IT STOPS THE SUFFERING.
Without TNVR, community cats face illness, injury, starvation, and overpopulation. TNVR ensures they’re healthy, vaccinated, and living safer lives—without adding to the cat population.

💖 It works. TNVR stabilizes colonies, reduces nuisance behaviors, and improves the lives of both cats and the community.

🐾 You can help. Learn how to safely TNVR and support your local kitties: www.friendsofferalfelines.org

💛 Thank You. “You Made Healing Possible”
To every single person who gave—thank you. Because of you, animals who were once abandoned, injured, and afraid are now safe, healing, and loved.

You didn’t just donate. You showed up. You believed in second chances. You turned pain into hope, and fear into comfort.

From the cats recovering from infection… To the dogs who finally know what kindness feels like… To the horses rescued from the brink of slaughter…

Your generosity made it all possible.

We are deeply grateful—not just for your gift, but for your compassion, your trust, and your belief in our mission.

Thank you for being part of this rescue family. Together, we’re rewriting stories—and saving lives.

Emergency! Sophie has been in labor for 36 hours. The first and only puppy so far was a stillborn. The dog is in pain, trembling from exhaustion and getting weaker, not eating, not drinking. The owner is in a panic!

After calling several vets with none available to do an emergency C-section on a payment plan or without a deposit, the dog owner called a rescue who also did not have the funds for this emergency.

Animals Abused & Abandoned (Animals3) was contacted by the rescuer. Necessary arrangements were made with a local veterinarian who as soon as the dog arrived, gave her medical care. The dog had a physical exam, and Xrays, As it turned out, Sophie was not in labor, but was diagnosed with pyometra and if left untreated, would be fatal. She was discharged home later that same day, with antibiotics and pain medication with the understanding that Sophie is to be spayed as soon as the infection has resolved, or she could again develop the same life threatening condition in the future. Pyometra is most common in intact older dogs. One more reason for sterilizing a female pet.

Without our assistance, would Sophie still be alive? Her mom is most grateful for our help. She loves her ten year old dog! Today you have the opportunity to prevent other Sophies from experiencing this ordeal by helping us spay as many female dogs or cats as possible. Your contribution to Animals3 will ensure a healthy life for several precious pets.
