We see people every week that say "Did you know that there is another Dr. Nettune, and he did my cataract surgery?!". Our Dr. Nettune always smiles and says "I did know that there was another Dr. Nettune, as he is my brother". And while our patients can't talk, we are hopeful that they would give a similar review of their experience here at Blink when we remove their cataracts to restore their vision

Our patients say it best!

I have completed my right eye surgery for cataract removal. My left eye was done several weeks ago by Dr. Nettune. It has been less than a week, and I am so excited about my results. This group works like a well-oiled machine, and Dr. Nettune has been outstanding. Exams are thorough, Dr. is informative, staff is helpful. Appointments run on time, and I never felt rushed through my appointment time. I can't express enough how much I would recommend Dr Nettune and the Cornea Associates of Texas. - Theresa S.

Dr. Nettune is available to see patients at our Dallas and Plano locations. Please call our office at 214-692-0146 to schedule your appointment at the location closest to you.

Cataract surgery is one of the most rewarding procedures that we do at Blink, as we get to watch as a pet wakes up and sees the world again.

Bentley was diagnosed with diabetes in November 2024 and although his condition is well-managed, cataracts can develop rapidly as a complication of diabetes. We met Bentley in April after his mom observed some cloudiness and a significant decline in his vision. Following retinal testing to confirm their function we performed bilateral cataract removal yesterday to restore his sight. This sweet boy returned today for his first post-operative exam and he is as happy as can be and doing exceptionally well! We look forward to seeing him again for his next post-op visit and hearing about how he is adapting to having his vision restored. 🩵

We met this pup when owners noticed a change in his right eye - leading to discomfort and vision decrease, as is often the case with anteriorly luxated lens capsules. However, upon exam we found that his left lens was also luxated - just in the other direction, and likely had been for some time!

Initially we were focused on comfort for his right eye as anterior lens luxes can lead to abrupt pressure spikes and inflammation. We were able to do a sedated procedure to move the lens into the posterior position, and started drops in both eyes to constrict the pupil and keep the lenses trapped posteriorly as this is more comfortable long term.

After a few rechecks, pup remains comfortable with normal ocular pressures, some vision has come back, and is acting like nothing happened! This is not always the case, but acting quickly on anterior lens luxations greatly increases the chances of success without heavier intervention.

Unfortunately, certain breeds like cattle dogs, terriers, miniature poodles, and Boston terriers are more genetically predisposed to these lens changes, but can occur to any breed as they age.

No evening plans? Go listen to Dr. Nettune talk eyeballs!

From ulcers, glaucoma, what is an emergency, how to tell ocular pain, what not to do, and when to go home with a cone (spoiler: it’s almost always), and more!!

We do everything in our power to make our patient’s time with us as easy and comfortable as possible, and for Rigby that meant laying upside down and getting belly rubs!! Whether for her schirmer tear test, surgery prep for her cherry eye, or during her post-op exam, the girl needed her belly rubs and we were all too happy to oblige.

We met sweet Gunter and his concerned parents last summer, as they had noticed changes with his left eye since they adopted him. The redness and discomfort seemed to flare up and settle down for a bit, then happen again. It was suspected secondary to a full thickness puncture wound, however no evidence was seen. Eventually all of the inflammation lingered which caused a cataract to form, the lens to adhere to the iris, vision to be lost, and Gunter to be uncomfortable.

The eye was then sent to an ocular pathologist who was able to tell us more accurately what happened to that eye to cause such changes and if there was any risk to Gunter’s remaining eye. Thankfully the surgery was presumed to be curative, and Gunter can go back to living his life without pain or eye drops!

The first slide shows Gunter’s eye the day of surgery, the second slide shows his eye 3 months and a couple flares after we met him and before his suture removal, and finally the last slide shows him at home after everything being the precious boy he is!

So much to be thankful for this year at Blink! Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your pet’s treatment journey to getting and keeping their eyes visual and comfortable! The clinic will be closed on Thursday and Friday for our team to celebrate the holiday with their families, but you are still welcome to reach out via text and email. As always, if it is an emergency or urgent concern, we recommend you reaching out to your vet or an emergency clinic.

We hope you all have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday, and we look forward to working with all new and existing clients when we get back on Monday! Please enjoy the collage, as it is full of some pictures I wouldn’t get away with posting otherwise 😘😘

What’s better than one fluffy bunny first thing in the morning? TWO fluffy bunnies first thing in the morning!!

As a veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Nettune can see all species of animals and their eyeballs, but usually it’s just cats and dogs coming through the clinic. We are excited to see all of our patients, but maybe just a little extra excited to see Marshmallow and Fluff 🫣😉🩵

Symblepharon is a condition that we see frequently in rescues kitties as it is often the result of a feline herpesvirus infection while they are very young. Even if the infection flare is treated, the scarring remains.

The adhered scarring is not painful, and the cats are typically still visual and comfortable, although there may be some blind spots. Due to the scarring being composed of conjunctival tissue, it is very difficult to permanently remove the tissue as it will grow back.

Most of the time, the scarring is just a cosmetic change for the cat long term. They are still able to get around and assume a normal lifestyle, just with a few extra accessories!
