From a Small Farm Fighting to Be Heard
Dear Oregon Leaders and DLCD,
We are On the Edge Farm—a small, family-run operation that opens its gates to families, schools, and curious visitors all year long. We don’t host big concerts. We don’t have a winery. We have cows, mud, messy boots, and a deep love for what we do.
The new agritourism bill being proposed threatens everything we’ve built.
This bill puts hard caps, strict permits, and overwhelming red tape on the few events that help us survive. It doesn’t support small farms—it squeezes us out.
We host farm tours, birthday parties, animal encounters, harvest days… not to get rich, but to stay open. These events are how we feed our animals, pay our bills, and connect our community to agriculture.
If this bill passes as written, we may have to close our gates to the public—and the kids who’ve never met a cow or felt the joy of a pumpkin patch might never get the chance.
We’re asking lawmakers to vote NO on this bill in its current form.
And we’re asking our community to stand with us.
