From a Small Farm Fighting to Be Heard

Dear Oregon Leaders and DLCD,

We are On the Edge Farm—a small, family-run operation that opens its gates to families, schools, and curious visitors all year long. We don’t host big concerts. We don’t have a winery. We have cows, mud, messy boots, and a deep love for what we do.

The new agritourism bill being proposed threatens everything we’ve built.

This bill puts hard caps, strict permits, and overwhelming red tape on the few events that help us survive. It doesn’t support small farms—it squeezes us out.

We host farm tours, birthday parties, animal encounters, harvest days… not to get rich, but to stay open. These events are how we feed our animals, pay our bills, and connect our community to agriculture.

If this bill passes as written, we may have to close our gates to the public—and the kids who’ve never met a cow or felt the joy of a pumpkin patch might never get the chance.

We’re asking lawmakers to vote NO on this bill in its current form.
And we’re asking our community to stand with us.

🥈 We’re feeling all the feels.
We just won Silver for Best Pumpkin Patch in the Willamette Valley… and honestly? We’re still wrapping our heads around it.

We spent the evening surrounded by amazing small business friends and left with an award that truly means the world to us. It’s a reminder that our little farm—with its mix of pumpkins, rescue animals, and wide open spaces—is something special.

On the Edge Farm isn’t your typical pumpkin patch, and that’s just how we like it. Our cows, donkeys, llamas, and the rest of the crew are already looking forward to meeting new friends—long before pumpkin season kicks off again.

Thank you for cheering us on. We can’t wait to make Pumpkin Patch 2025 our best one yet. 🎃💛

This week, On the Edge Farm was awarded 2nd place for Pumpkin Patch in Best of Williamette Valley 2025. And truthfully, it still hasn’t set in.

We’re not a big-name farm. We don’t have a huge crew or endless resources.
Just a small family, a stubborn dream and a patch of ground, we’ve poured our hearts into.

To be recognized alongside some of the most established, well loved farms in the valley - farms we’ve looked up to for years - feels a bit like David standing beside Goliath.

But here is the thing: we didn’t do it alone.

This silver belongs to every family who came out, rain or shine.
To every teacher who brought their class.
To every kid who picked their very first pumpkin here.
And to all of you who believed in us - before the awards, before the crowds, back when it was just a rough-cut field and a big leap of faith.

To our fellow farms: thank you for setting the bar high and proving that this work is still worth doing.
To our community and supporters: thank you for lifting us up and helping us grow. We couldn’t have done it without you.

We’re humbled.
We’re honored.
And we’re more motivated than ever to keep doing it the right way - one season, one visitor, one pumpkin at a time.

🧡 With grit, gratitude and heart,
The Jensen Family

Today we’re celebrating the dads who work hard, love deeply, and always show up—muddy boots and all. Farmer Mat wears a lot of hats: caretaker, fence-fixer, tractor-wrangler, animal whisperer, and most importantly, Dad.

Whether he’s bottle-feeding a calf at sunrise or teaching the next generation the value of hard work and kindness, Mat leads with heart, humor, and a whole lot of grit. We’re so lucky to have him on this journey—he’s the kind of dad who makes life on the farm something truly special.

To all the fathers, stepdads, grandpas, and father figures out there—thank you for everything you do. Your strength, guidance, and love mean the world.

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at On the Edge Farm!

Pumpkin and Sprout are never far from the action—or the snack bucket. 🐷

These two are always on the lookout for treats and attention, and they’re not shy about it. Whether we’re doing chores or just walking by, they’re right there with curious snouts and happy grunts.

They may be little, but they’ve got big personalities and even bigger appetites. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Pretty much Farmer Mat anytime of the week. Weekends he thinks it’s time to work more!
